徐州工程学院毕业设计论文I英文原文DevelopmentofamonitoringandcontrolplatformforPLCbasedapplicationsS.Dana,A.Sagahyroon,A.Elrayes,A.R.AlAli,R.AlAydiAbstractThispaperdiscussesthedesignandimplementationofaplatformtoremotelymonitorandcontrolPLCbasedprocessesoverTCP/IPorbyusingtheGSMnetwork.TheplatformisbuiltusingindustrystandardofftheshelfPLCs.IntegratedwitheachPLCarecommunicationprocessorsthatcanbeusedforconnectivitytothenetworkandtoaGSMmodem.ThecommunicationprocessormoduleEthernetmoduleusedinthiswork,providesanindustrialcompatibleprotocoloverTCP/IPthatachievesthesamefunctionalityasProfinetbutatamuchhigherbandwidth10/100Mbps.Additionally,amobilebasedcommunicationprotocolthatfacilitatesremotemonitoringandcontrolofPLCsusingSMSmessageshasalsobeendeveloped.Theintenthereistoprovidesystemuserswithabackupcommunicationmechanismincaseofanetworkfailure.©2007ElsevierB.V.Allrightsreserved.1.IntroductionTherecentgrowthofnetworkstechnologyandspeciallythewidespreadoftheInternethavepromotedthedevelopmentofdistributedmeasurementsystemsforavarietyofindustrialapplications.Thesedistributedmeasurementsystemscanbeusedinthemonitoringandcontrolofvariousinstrumentsinthenetwork1,2.AProgrammableLogicControllerPLCismicroprocessorbasedcontrolsystemthatcanbeprogrammedtosense,activateandcontrolindustrialequipmentandthereforeincorporatesanumberofinput/outputterminalsforinterfacingtoanindustrialprocess.AcontrolprogramstoredinthePLCmemorydeterminestherelationshipbetweentheinputsandoutputsofthePLC.PLCsareintelligentautomationstationsthatpossesshighlyusefulanddesirablefeaturessuchas3Robustness.HighdegreeofscalabilitymodernPLCfamilieshaveawidespectrumofCPUtypesthatallowseasyscalabilityinfunctionalityandperformance.ExtensibilitythemodulardesignofPLCsenablestheextensionwithawiderangeofdigitalandanalogI/Omodules.Also,variousintegratedtechnologymodulesareavailableforvariousapplicationareas.徐州工程学院毕业设计论文IISophisticatedcommunicationcapabilitiesmodernPLCshavecommunicationportsthatprovideforcentralizedordistributedconnectivity.PowerfuldevelopmentenvironmentmodernPLCfamiliescomewithacrossdevelopmentenvironmentthatsupportdifferentlanguagesforprogrammability,allowssemigraphicalhardwareconfigurationandofferstrongdebuggingmechanisms.Remoteaccesstocontrolandmonitorvariousdevicesinanindustrialsettingisofvaluetoengineersandautomationfacilities.CurrentimplementationsofremotePLCmonitorandcontrolusededicatedPCsorwebserversconnectedtothePLC.Fig.1illustratesacommonarchitectureusedinindustry.Asshown,PLCsareconnectedtothenetworkthroughacomputer.ThePLCsystemisusuallyinterfacedtothiscomputerusingtheserialPortorProfibus.ThesetypesofsystemsaredisadvantagedbythededicateduseofaPCtoaccessthePLCsystem.Thearchitecturealsodoesnotmakeuseoftheadventsandstridesmadeinareassuchastelecommunicationsandwebtechnology.InrecentyearsandduetotheeverincreasingcapabilitiesofPCcomputingandtheinfluxofnetworkprotocolsandstandards,therehasbeenasurgeinthedesignandimplementationofdistributedmeasurementandcontrolsystemsforindustrialapplications.Typically,thesesystemsarebasedontheclientserverarchitecturewhilesecuringcommunicationusingtheTCP/IPprotocol4–6.ModernPLCscomewithembeddedwebserversthatprovideopenaccesstousefulrealtimeinformationanddiagnosticsthatcanbeviewedviaanystandardwebbrowser.Thisremoteaccessibilityprovidesseveraladvantagesovermoretraditionalsolutions.Forexample,aproblemcaneasilybediagnosedandperhapsfixedremotelyalsoengineerscanhaveremoteaccesstothePLCCPUconfigurationtoolsandhenceallowingforremoteupload/downloadandconfigurabilityviatheintranetorinternet.InthispaperwewilldiscussthedesignandimplementationofanetworkedplatformforremotemonitoringandcontrolofPLCs.TheplatformisbuiltaroundtheSiemensS7seriesofPLCs.ThesePLCshaveanintegratedcommunicationprocessorthatcanbeusedtoprovideaccessibilitytotheinternet.Themonitoringandcontrolcanbeaccomplishedinawiredorwirelessenvironment,viaanintranetorinternethenceprovidingforacompletesolutionfortheremotemonitoringandcontrolofindustrialprocesses.WewillalsodiscusstheutilizationoftheGSMnetworkandtheoperationofacommunicationprotocolthatusesSMSmessagingtocommunicatewiththePLCstationsandaDatabaseServerintegratedwiththesystem.ThepaperisorganizedasfollowsinSection2wedescribetheoverallsystemarchitecturesectionthreeincludesadiscussionofthesoftwareaspectsofthesystem.Sections4and5presentthecommunicationsmethodologyfollowedinthisprojectandthepaperisconcludedinSection徐州工程学院毕业设计论文III6.Fig.1.PCbasedremoteaccessibility.2.SystemarchitectureTheproposedsystemarchitectureisillustratedinFig.2.ThesystemconsistsofthefollowingcomponentsSimaticS7200/300PLCsystemsandCommunicationProcessorsCPs.EachCPhasanintegratedcommunicationinterfacehardwareandsoftwarethatallowsthePLCtocommunicateinaLAN,WANorviaaGSMnetwork.Clientsandadministratorareconnectedtotheprocessviathenetworkorwirelessly.Privilegescanbesetorresetbyadministratorstoallowforortolimitthevariousclientsoptions.ADatabaseServerconnectedtotheprocessviathenetworkfordataloggingandeventrecording.AvarietyofnetworkoptionsincludingGSMbasedaccessibility.ThePLCsystemEthernetmoduleisacommunicationprocessorfortheS7familyusedto徐州工程学院毕业设计论文IVconnectthePLCtothenetwork.AnadditionalcommunicationprocessorisusedtoallowcommunicationbetweenthePLCandtheGSMmodemovertheserialportRS232.Intheproposedimplementation,thePLCsystemreportsremotelythestatusoftheprocesstotheDatabaseServer.TheDatabaseServerrecordsthestatusofthePLCintimebasedtablesandperformsanyrequireddataanalysis.Thesystemalsoreceivesandexecutescommandsfromadministratorsandclientstocontroltheprocess.GSMconnectivityisalsoimplementedtoallowuserswithdifferentprivilegestoaccessthestatusofthemandatoryfunctionsofthePLCandallowthemtocontrolthesefunctions.EthernetandGSMconnectivityofthePLCsisimplementedusingtheCP343,andtheCP340communicationprocessors7.TheSystemsoftwarewasimplementedmainlyusingSimaticManager7andJava.TheSimaticManagerenvironmentisusedforcommunicationwiththePLCsystem.Theproposedarchitectureallowsforprogramming,reprogramming,andconfiguringthesystemremotely.TheJavaapplicationisdevelopedusingtheS7APIsS7ApplicationProgrammingInterfacestoestablishthecommunicationbetweentheDatabaseServerandPLCstation8.Forexample,usingtheseAPIs,wecaninstantiateobjectsthatwillconnecttheDatabaseServertothePLCstationbyspecifyingtheIPAddressandtheS7addressoftheCPUcontainedinthePLCunit.ThePLCisconnectedtotheprocesssensorsandactuatorsusingI/Omodules.AftertheJavaapplicationrunningontheserversideestablishestheconnectiontoPLCusingtheS7APIs,itthenusestheJavaDatabaseConnectorTechnologyJDBCtostoretheretrieveddatathatreflectsthestatusofvariousPLCparametersintheDatabaseTables.JDBCisatechnologythatallowsJavatoconnecttoDatabaseservers.ItcontainstherequiredJavalibrariesthatincludeallthenecessarymethodsrequiredtoconnecttotheDatabaseServerandexecuteSQLstatements.TheoverallsystemallowsuserstosetprocessvaluesusingthePLC.Forexample,userscansetanoutputactuateamotororchangethevalueofamemorycellmemorybit,byte,word,flag,etc..ThesystemenvironmentalsoprovidesforobtainingthereadingsofinputvaluessensorsreadingsaswellascapturingthestatusofthePLC.AChartplottercanbeusedtoconvertreadingsfromthePLCsintocharts.Anerrorreportingmechanismthatprovidesadministratorswithusefuldiagnosticinformationisalsoincludedinthecompleteenvironment.SystemadministratorscanalsoquerythestatusoftheprocessusingtheGSMnetworkintheformofSMSmessages.Finally,theproposedsystemarchitectureisscalablewiththeabilitytomonitoracompletenetworkofPLCsspreadingaroundtheIntranetorInternet.
