1InjectionMoldingCAETechnology0IntroductionPlasticproductsfromproductdesigntoproduction,includingmoldingplasticproductsdesign,molddesign,moldmanufacturingandinjectionmoldingprocessparametersandseveralothermainareas.Thetraditionalinjectionmolddesignmainlyrelyonthedesignersexperience,whiletheinjectionmoldingprocessisverycomplex,plasticmeltflowpropertiesofdifferentandever-changingproductsanddiestructure,processconditionsvary,formingvariousdefects,molddesignoftenrequirerepeatedtrial-mode,maintenancemodecanbeputintoproduction,withlittleofasuccessful,identifyproblems,notonlytore-adjusttheprocessparameters,oreventomodifytheplasticproductsandmolds,notonlytime-consumingandlaborious,butalsoreducesproductdevelopmenttime.TheuseofinjectionmoldingCAEtechnologyinmoldmanufacturingpriortosimulateinjectionmoldingprocess(includingfilling,packingandcooling)andtheearlydetectionofproblems,optimizemolddesignandprocessconditionssettoreducethenumberoftestmodeinordertoimproveproductionefficiency,hasbecomeainjectionmoldingtechnologyisanimportantdirectionofdevelopment.1ThehistoryofInjectionMoldingCAEtechnologyInjectionMoldingCAEtechnologyisbasedonplasticsprocessingrheologyandheattransferofthebasictheory,themeltinthemoldcavityintheflow,heattransferphysics,mathematicalmodel,usingnumericalsolutionmethodofconstructingthetheory,theuseofcomputervisualizationtechnologyimage,visuallysimulatethedynamicsoftheactualshapeofthemeltfillingandcoolingprocess,ananalysistechniques.The20thcentury,60years,theUnitedKingdom,theUnitedStatesandCanadaandothercountriesofthescholars,suchasJRPearson(UnitedKingdom),JFStevenson(America),MRKamal(Canada)andKKWang(America),etc.tocarryoutaseriesof2plasticmeltinthemold-typecavityflowandcoolingofbasicresearch.Atareasonablesimplification,basedon60yearscompletedaone-dimensionalflowandcoolinganalysisprograms,70yearstocompletethetwo-dimensionalcoolinganalysisprograms,and80yearsfromtheinjectionmoldingCAEtechnologyhasbeguntotheoreticalresearchintothepracticalphase,launchedathree-dimensionalflowandcoolinganalysisandthestudyextendedtopacking,fiberorientationandwarpagepredictionofmolecularandotherfields.After90yearscarriedoutintotheflow,packing,coolingandstressanalysis,thewholeprocessofinjectionmoldingprocessesareintegratedresearch.CAEtechnologies,fortheinjectionmolddesignprovidesareliableguaranteethatitsapplicationismolddesigninthehistoryofamajorchange.2TheroleofInjectionMoldingCAEtechnologyUsingtraditionalmethodsofdesignofinjectionmolddesignsuccesswillrelyheavilyontheexperienceofdesigners,butalsoforcomplexpartsgatepositionisreasonableornot,thelocationoftheexhaustslotsettings,todeterminethelocationofweldlinesandsoverydifficult.Dieindeliverywillnormallytakebeforethetestmodeafterrepeatedchanges,untiltheproductshavebeenqualified,whichinevitablyledtotheextensionoftheproductioncycle,andgenerallydifficulttoobtainanoptimaldesignandprocessparameters.TheuseofinjectionmoldingCAEtechnicaldesign,moldisnottrue,becauseofmolddesignconceptstage,canmakeuseofCAEtechnologyininjectionmoldingprocesssimulationflow,makingusuallyonlyinthemoldtryoutphasesinordertofindproblems,suchasshortshots,weldlinesorholesappearinthesurfaceappearanceofpartsandotherissueshavebeenavoided.Whilehelpingthedesignertocompletethebalanceofthesystem,suchasflowchanneldesign,exhaustducts,setting,rationallydeterminetheinjectionmoldingprocessparameters,etc.,sothatusuallymakesthemodificationmustberepeatedtryouttodeterminestructuralparametersofthemolddiedesignandprocessparametersintheconceptualstageabletodetermine,reducethemolddesignandmanufacturingcycleandimprovethemolddesignquality.3Therefore,theroleofinjectionmoldingCAEsoftware,mainlyasfollows:(1)OptimizedesignofplasticproductsPlasticwallthickness,gatenumberandlocationofthedesignofflowchannelsystemforthequalityofplasticproductshaveasignificantimpact.Dependsontheexperienceofthepast,designersusingmanualmethodstoachieve,time-consumingeffort,buttheuseofCAEtechnologytoquicklydesignthebestproducts.(2)optimizetheplasticmolddesignCanbecavitysize,gatelocationandnumberofflowchanneldimensionsandcoolingsystemstooptimizethedesign.Onthecomputersimulationtestmold,moldrepairmoldandimprovequalityandreducethenumberofactualtryout.(3)tooptimizeinjectionprocessparametersSimulationoftheinjectionprocessandfoundpossibleshapedefects,todeterminethebestinjectionpressure,clampingforce,moldtemperature,melttemperature,injectiontimeandcoolingtime.ThisshowsthattheinjectionmoldingCAEtechnologyintermsofimprovingproductivity,reducemolddesignandmanufacturecycleandtoensureproductquality,orreducecosts,reducelaborintensityandsoon,haveverysignificanttechnicaladvantagesandeconomicsignificance.3InjectionMoldingCAEsoftwaretypesandtheirdetailsTodate,amaturebusinessaremoreinjectionmoldingCAEsoftware,MoldflowCorporationMoldflowsoftwareandAC-Tech,Inc.(February2000,wasMoldflowMerger)andC-Moldsoftwareisanexcellentrepresentative;TherearealsoforeignTheTMCONCEPT,CADMold,Fidap,Stirm100,PolyflowandChinasTaiwanregionMoldex-peersoftwareapplicationsarerelativelywide;anddomesticinthe"E
