南京工程学院毕业设计说明书(论文)第1页UltraHighSpeedProfilerforAircraftPartsMachiningUHP120BDevelopmentGoalsandPerformanceKazuyaTanakaManagerDesigningSect.Ⅱ,EngineeringDept.Ⅰ1.IntroductionItisgenerallysaidthattheconditionssurroundingtheaircraftindustryhavebeenlessthanoptimalsincetheterroristattackofSeptember11,2001,buttheJapaneseaircraftindustryseemstobeinaslightlydifferentsituation.ThisobservationissupportedbythefactthattheDefenseAgencysPXadvancedantisubmarinepatrolplaneandCXcargotransportplaneprojectshaveapproved,andBoeingandAirbusrelatedcontractshavenotdeclinesignificantly.Thankstotheseandotherfactors,suchasthefactthattheindustryisenteringtheequipmentreplacementphase,theJapaneseaircraftindustryiscurrentlyinrelativelygoodshape.Undertheinfluenceoftheglobalmarketneeds,thereisverystrongdemandforreducingthecostsofcivilaircraftparts.Tomeetthisdemand,aircraftmanufacturesandjobshopscontractedtosupplypartstothemhavebeenworkinghardtoreducecostandimprovemanufacturingtechnologyandproductivity.Thenumberofaircraftproducedbythemanufacturersofsmalljetaircraftisincreasingatamuchfasterratethanthenumberofaircraftproducedbymanufacturersmoreorlessspecializinginlargeraircraft,suchasBoeingandAirbus.Despitethesteadygrowthofdemand,jobshopsundercontractwiththeseaircraftmanufactuersarebeingfacedwithincreasingpressuresforcostreduction.TheemergenceofSoutheastAsiancountriescapableofproducingpartsatlowcosthasmadepricecompetitionfiercer.TheChinese南京工程学院毕业设计说明书(论文)第2页aircraftindustryisburstingwithenergybecausejobshopsinChinacannowcompetewithJapanesejobshopsinleadtimeandqualityinadditiontobeingableproducepartsatlowercosts.Giventheseglobaltrends,itcanbesaidthattheJapaneseaircraftindustryspositionisdelicateinthecompetitivemarket.Inspiteofleadtimeandqualitysuperiority,theJapaneseaircraftindustryisfightingasteeplyuphillbattleinpricecompetition.Tohelpcopewiththesituationasamachinetoolmanufacturer,SNKhasdevelopedUHP120B,anadvanced5axisultrahighspeedhorizontalprofilerthatisatoncemostcosteffectiveandhighlyproductive.Therestofthisaircraftintroducesthenewprofiler.2.BackgroundBriefhistoryofProfilerDevelopmentatSNKSincethedevelopmentofSM13SparMillwith13numericallycontrolledaxesin1967,SNKhasdevelopedmanymachinetoolsdesignedforaircraftpartsmachiningandfiveaxisprofiles,anddeliveredmanymachinestospecialtyjobshopsbothinJapanandabroad.Oneofthelargermachinesrecentlydevelopedanddeliveredisatwogantry,ABaxistype,threespindlefiveaxisprofilerwitha64meterlongbedwitha4meterwideworkingsurface.Theseprofilersareverticalspindlemachinesthatenabletheoperatortosetupalargeworkpieceonthebedinastableposition.Astimepassed,however,thewayaircraftpartsaremanufacturedhaschangedmachiningofforgings,whichusedtobethemethodofmanufacturingaircraftparts,begantobereplacedbythemethodofmanufacturingaircraftpartsoutofsolidmaterialinordertoreducethenumberandweightofparts.Thismeantremovingmostofthematerialduringmachining.Useofhighspeedmachining,whichisdesignedtoincreaseproductivityalsodramaticallyincreasedthevolumeofmetalremovedperhour,makingverticalspindlemachinesanunrealisticchoicefromthestandpointofchipremoval.南京工程学院毕业设计说明书(论文)第3页Tomeetthechangingneeds,SNKdevelopedHPS4B,alarge5axishighspeed,horizontal,tiltingtabletypeprofilerpartsoutofsolidmaterial,easysetupandefficientchipremoval.Thenewmachinewasputonexhibitatthe1998Chicagoshowandwashailedbyaircraftpartsjobshops.Since,however,HPS4Bisalargermachinewitha210mmachiningenvelope,itwastoolargeandtooexpensiveforsmallerjobshops.Todemonstratethesuperiorityofthemachineconceptandeasyoperationofferedbythistypeofmachine,SNKdevelopedamachinebasedonasimilarconcept.Thismachine,HPS120B,isacompactandreasonablypriced5axishighspeedhorizontalprofilerandwasexhibitedatthe2000Chicagoshow.ThismachinewasacclaimedforitsperformanceandeconomyandhasnowbecomeoneofthegreatestvalueaddedmodelsoftheSNKprofilers.Marketneeds,however,havechangedrapidly,andhasbeenincreasingpressureforcostreduction,asmentionedearlier.Recognizingtheneedforahighspeedprofilercapableofperformingmachiningwithunprecedentedefficiency,SNKdevelopeditsnewest5axisultrahighspeedhorizontalprofiler,UHP120B,thatinheritstheacclaimedfeaturesoftheHPSseriesofprofilers,andputthemachineonexhibitatthe2001EMOshow.3.UHP120BDevelopmentgoalsandPerformanceTheaimofdevelopmentofUHP120Bistooffertousersacosteffectivemachinethatboostsproductivityinthemachiningofmediumandsmallsizedpartsofaluminum,amaterialwidelyusedinaircraftapplications.UsingHPS120B,whichhasprovenperformanceinthefieldofhighspeedmachining,asabasemachine,SNKdevelopedUHP120Bthroughextensiveresearchanddevelopment.Therestofthissectionintroducesprincipaltechnologiesincorporatedintothenewmachinetoachievethegoalsofthemachine.南京工程学院毕业设计说明书(论文)第4页Forinformationonthemachinesmainspecifications,pleaseseeNewProductNewsinthisreport.Technologytoachievehighproductivity1DevelopinghighspeedhighpowerspindleunitItisgenerallysaidthatthereisnolimittocuttingspeedsusedinthemachiningofaluminumtomanufactureaircraftparts.Thekeytoincreasingproductivityinsuchmachiningistofindawaytoachievehighmetalremovalratesatahighcuttingspeeds.Tothisend,wedevelopedanew75KW,32.000min1,highspeedhighpowerspindleunitwithacompact,powerfuldrivemotorforthenewprofiler,thishighperformancespindleunitranksamongthehighestintermsofspindlespeedandpowerforthespindlenosetaperused.ThespindleunitofthestandardconfigurationisequippedforHSkE63tools,butitcanbemodifiedforusewithBT40orotherequippedwithanunderracelubricationsystemtoenhancereliabilityofhighspeedmachiningduringlongtimeoperations.2increasingfederatesHighaxisfederatesandhighacceleration/decelerationcapabilitiesareimportantfactorsdirectlyaffectingmachiningtimeandmachiningaccuracythatcanbeachievedinhighpeedmachining.Forthelinearaxes,twindrivesystemsandtwomotordrivemechanismshavebeenemployedtoincreasefeedratesandmaximizeacceleration/deceleration,andtoincreaseproductivity.Asaresultthemaximumcuttingfederatesof40m/minand4800deg/minhavebeenachievedforthelinearaxesandrotaryaxes,respectivelyWebelievethatUHP120Branksamongthebestintermsofspindleandaxisfeedcapabilitiesinthefieldofthemachiningofaluminumaircraft.
