The proportion of salary spent on computersincreased dramatically, up from 1% in 1996 to 10% in 1996. However, as computer expenditure rose, the percentage of outlay on books plungedfrom 6% to 1%. Some areasremained relatively unchanged. Americans spent approximately the same amount of salary on petrol and furniture in both years.In conclusion, increased amounts spent on cars, computers, and eating out weremade up forby drops in expenditure on food and books.Example 1 Change of petroleum consumption in the world. The graph shows the percent change of petroleum consumption in the world by country for the period 1990 to 2005. The biggest change, more than 200%, occurred in China, followed by India of above 100% change. Brazil, the United States, France, and U.K. changed less than 50% in common.Example 2The graph shows the increasing trend of energy consumption for US, China and world from 1990 to 2020.Example 3 Example 4The figures provided in the graph shows the auto sales of China during the period of 2000 to 2010. The auto sales increased gradually from 2.1 million units in 2000 to 9.38 million units in 2008. In 2009, the auto sales rose dramatically to 13.65 million units.
