Title:ResearchProgressonSSRMolecularMarkers
Abstract:
MicrosatellitesorSimpleSequenceRepeats(SSRs)arewidelyusedmolecularmarkersinvariousfieldsofresearchduetotheirabundance,highpolymorphism,codominantinheritance,andeaseofdetection.ThispaperaimstoreviewthecurrentresearchprogressonSSRmolecularmarkers,includingtheircharacteristics,applications,advantages,andlimitations.WewilldiscussthedevelopmentofSSRs,theirutilizationingeneticdiversityassessment,populationgenetics,marker-assistedbreeding,taxonomy,andconservationgenetics.Additionally,wewillexplorerecentadvancesingenotypingtechniquesandbioinformaticstoolsusedinSSRresearch.ThisreviewhighlightstheimportanceofSSRmarkersinvariousareasofstudyandprovidesinsightsforfutureresearchdirections.
Introduction:
ThestudyofmolecularmarkershasrevolutionizedbiologicalresearchbyallowingscientiststostudygeneticvariationattheDNAlevel.Amongvariousmolecularmarkers,SSRshavegainedsignificantattentionduetotheirrobustness,multiallelicnature,andhighpolymorphism.SSRsaretandemrepeatsofsimpleDNAmotifs,typically1-6nucleotidesinlength,andoccurabundantlyinallspecies'genomes.Theyarecharacterizedbyhighallelicdiversity,co-dominantinheritance,andMendeliansegregation,makingthemidealmarkersforgeneticandpopulationanalyses.

SSRmarkershavebeenextensivelyusedinassessinggeneticdiversitywithinandbetweenpopulations.Thesemarkersprovidevaluableinsightsintothegeneticstructure,geneflowpatterns,andevolutionaryrelationshipsamongindividualsandpopulations.ThedatageneratedthroughSSRmarkersaidintheconservationandmanagementofgeneticresourcesandalsoassistinselectingsuitablebreedingparentsinplantandanimalbreedingprograms.
PopulationGeneticsandEvolutionaryStudies:
