非限制性定语从句和 限制性定语从句的区别,一. 形式上:,非限制性定语从句用逗号与主句隔开, 限制性定语从句则没有,请区分出下列句子哪些是限制性定语从句,那些是非限制性定语从句: The teacher told me that Tom was the only person that I could depend on. You met her in the street. (2) I often go to the factory. My father once worked in it. (3) The time is mentioned in the letter. He was a slave at that time. (4). The reason is known to us . He was late for this reason. (5) He gave me a book as a gift. Its cover was red.,The woman,her,the factory,it.,The time,that time,The reason,this reason,a book,Its,第二步,从两个分句中确定一个作 主句。其原则是看哪个句子能起概括作用,且合成定语从句后符合英语习惯和语法要求,(1) The woman is over there. You met her in the street. (2) I often go to the factory. My father once worked in it. (3) The time is mentioned in the letter. He was a slave at that time. (4). The reason is known to us . He was late for this reason. (5) He gave me a book as a gift. Its cover was red.,第三步:选择合适的关系代词或副词来替换从句中相应的部分。,(1)The woman is over there. You met her in the street. =The woman is over there. You met who in the street. (2) I often go to the factory. My father once worked in it. = I often go to the factory. My father once worked in which(=where).,(3) The time is mentioned in the letter. He was a slave at that time. =The time is mentioned in the letter. He was a slave at which(=when). (4). The reason is known to us . He was late for this reason. =The reason is known to us . He was late for which(=why). (5) He gave me a book as a gift. Its cover was red. = He gave me a book as a gift. whose cover was red.,第四步,把所选准的关系代词或副词及其引导的从句,提至从句之首,然后放到先行词之后则可得到合适的句子。,(1)The woman is over there. who You met in the street. The woman who you met in the street is over there. (2) I often go to the factory. My father once worked in which(=where). I often go to the factory in which(=where my father once worked).,(3) The time is mentioned in the letter. He was a slave at which(=when). The time at which(=when) he was a slave is mentioned in the letter. (4). The reason is known to us . He was late for which(=why). The reason for which(=why) He was late is known to us . (5) He gave me a book as a gift. whose cover was red.
