新目标英语八年级(下)第八单元Why dont you get her a scarf?第一课时教案(注;此教案荣获首届湖北省课堂教学创新设计教案大奖赛市级一等奖、省级二等奖)黄州区宝塔中学 王秀凤 Teaching content(教学内容):Period I Function (Section A 1b、2a of Unit 8)Target language(语言目标):Words、expressions and key sentences about gift giving(omitted)Learning ability goals(学能目标): Enable the students to give suggestions 、comments freely and show their opinions according to different people and gifts.Emotion and attitude goals(情感和态度目标): Enable the students to ask for the agreement and disagreement and give the reasons to different people for different gifts.Strategy goals(策略目标)To get the students to know how to choose gifts for different people and give proper comments.Learning ability goals(学能目标):Help the students to learn how to talk about gift giving and give suggestions and comments according to different peoples ages and different gifts.Teaching important and difficult points(教学重难点):How to make suggestions and give comments with target language:“Why dont you?”“How about/ What about? ”Teaching preparation(教学准备):Some gifts, a recorder, multi-media and so on.Teaching methods(教学方法): 1. Creative a real situation with electrical equipment.2. Use real things around us to teach words expressions and grammar.3. Task-based teaching method.Teaching procedures (教学过程):Step I Warm-up and lead inGreet the students and then have a free talk with Ss about guessing the reasons why the teacher is so happy in order to improve Ss listening and speaking skills and lead in the new lesson, such as: Are you happy today? Do you know why Im so happy today? Can you guess the reason, boys and girls? Im sure you can. The students guess and give their reasons one by one. Then tell the students the real reasons. In this step the teacher should pay attention to encouraging Ss to express their ideas freely, especially dont forget to praise Ss, thus, Ss will focus on and be interested in English class. In this way, the teacher can arouse Ss interests.S1: Did you get a new dress from your husband? S2: Did you move to a new big house? S3: Did you make much money in your free time? S4: Maybe you met your old friends? S5: Maybe you had a wonderful vacation during May Day. S6: Did you buy a beautiful car and drove it to your hometown? S7: Did you travel to some interesting places during May Day? S8: Did you get a part-time job? S9: Did your son come back to see you from Wuhan University? S10: Did your son find a girl friend?.Tell Ss the real reasons that make me so happy in order to lead the new word “gift”and “present”. ( Showing the word on the screen)Step II PresentationFirst, show a big bag to Ss and ask Ss to guess gifts names, such as: an English book、some sweet、a photo album、 a scarf、a pair of sunglasses、some delicious food、a new dress、a beautiful necklace、a small CD、some flowers、chocolate、a skirt and so on. And then give different opinions and share them together. At the same time, teach Ss a new word“comment.” (Showing this word on the screen).After that, ask Ss to say other words to describe gifts. For example:interesting Ss give some other adjectives: beautiful、wonderful、creative、 colorful、useful、 meaningful、comfortable、soft、be in style、 popular、exciting、personal、 expensive At last, ask Ss to look at the screen and read these words together.(popular, too personal, unusual, not creative, beautiful, expensive, boring, special, useful, out of style, helpful, interesting, out of style, cool)Now lead Ss to think over what other things can be sent as gifts. Maybe Ss answers: A baseball, a watch, MP3 or MP4, a digital camera, an e- dictionary, a popular mobile phone, a CD, a notebook, a card, a pair of glasses, a photo album Step III Group workAsk and answer between the boys and girls to practice how to express their opinions about different gifts. First, look at the screen as a model, then show some pictures and some key words on the screen the screen, Ss work in groups and report the result to the class. Ok. After some time later, ask Monkey, Apple, Sunnyto be volunteers to show their opinions to the whole class.Step IV Listening and practiceThis time, first do some listening exercises. Section A 1b. After finishing it, check the answers together. (Showing the right answers on the screen:3 2 4 1). Then look at Section A 2a .Pay attention to “Who is the person shopping for? After it,show the answers on the screen.( friend, teacher, sister, )T: If we want to give somebody some advice or suggestions, what should we say? After a while,ask Ss to say out key sentencesS1: What about doing something?S2: Why dont you ?S3: You should, you may or you canS4: Youd betterT: Yes. We should say: What about? How about? Why not? Why dont you?You should (may, could)(Showing the sentence patterns on the screen)How to give suggestions?Why dont you?Why not ?What about?How about?Youd betterYou should (may, can, would)Step V Discussionhave a free talk between the teacher and Ss about what gift to send my mother and encourage Ss to express their ideas. After a few minutes, ask Ss to give me good ideas and the reasons. At the same time, remember to give own comments to Ss to communicate with each other better. For example, S1: How about a camera? Old peoples memory is not good enough. It can help her, I think. S2: Why dont you send her a computer? Because if she has a computer, she can chat on line with old people. She wont be lonely any more. S3: What about a ring? S4: Why dont you send her a lip stick?I think a lip stick can help her look much more beautiful。T: Wonderful idea! Nowadays not only young women but also old women like beauty very much.S5: I think youd better send her a Huangmei(黄梅) Opera CD.T: Clever boy! You know I was born in Huangmei. Huangmei is my hometown. Do you know other things about Huangmei? Huangmei is very famous for Sizhu Temple and Wuzhu Temple(四祖寺、五祖寺) S6: You should send mom an easy chair. She can lie on it and have a good rest. S7 How about sending her flowers? T: I agree with you. I think its a very good idea. Its very creative and very in style. But what kind of flowers are the best? Ss: Carnations. T: All right. Carnations stand for sons and daughters love and best wishes to moms. S8: Maybe you can send her a long kiss and a warm hug. S9: You can look for a Baomu(保姆) to look after her. S10: You may take her to the hospital and ask a good doctor to look her over carefully. S11:I think you can make a call to her. Maybe your words are the best gifts.S12: Why dont you send her a new photo of yourself? S13: I think the best gift is to go home very often. S14: How about cooking a bowl of Changshoumian (长寿面)for her? S15: Maybe you can send her a lovely pet dog. S16: I think you can give her a long kiss and warm hug.After that, tell Ss your feelings and opinions: Im very moved you gave me so many wonderful suggestions. Im sorry to tell you now Im in Huangzhou(黄州). But my mum lives in Huangmei. Im very busy with my work these days. I have no tome to go home to see her. So Id like to make a long distance to her. If I want to make a telephone to my mum, what should I say to her? The answers: Mum, I love you. I miss you very much. Please look after yourself. Thanks for your hard word. Wish you happy for ever. So Id like to say to my mom: “Mum, happy birthday to you! I miss you very much. I wish you happiness, health and longevity. Ill love you forever. I think you are always the best and the greatest mother in the world. So boys and girls, as sons and daughters, we shouldnt always receive love, care, help or gifts from our parents. We should try to look for chances to give, to show or to express our love and best wishes to our parents. T: Now we are middle students. Especially now we are poor students. Although we cant buy expensive gifts for our parents, we can do many kinds of useful things for them in return on special day. Then what should we do for our parents? Lets talk about it. What should we do, boys and girls?S1: We should help them do the washes.S2: We may cook delicious meals for them.S3: If they are ill, we should look after them.S4: Work hard at school and make them happy.S5: We should send them birthday cakes or cards on their birthdays.S6: We should study hard and make great progress.T: OK. Maybe a card with best wishes on it is enough. Do you think so? Sometimes a leaf from a tree is very wonderful.S7:Help them wash face.S8: We should say to them: I love you for ever. S9: We should have good feelings and never make them sad. S10: We should have strong bodies.T: Yes. In our parents eyes, our great progress, good study grades, happy feelings and good health, strong bodies are the best gifts for them. Do you understand me? When you are older, you will realize better.Step VI Work in pairs and act outLet Ss make their conversations with their partners according to the following topics and then ask at least two pairs to the front to act them out.T: We know Mothers Day and Fathers Day are coming soon. What are you going to send your parents? Please work in pairs and make your own new and creative conversations with your partners. After a while, ask some pairs to come to front to act out their conversations. Step VII PracticeT: Now lets do some reading exercises. Please look at the screen. Choose the right answers and complete the two dialogues. (omitted)Step VIII Consolidation and HomeworkIn this class, we have learned something about gift giving. We have known what gifts to send different people and how to give our comments. We know everyone likes gifts. People often send gifts to each other on some special days. For example: on birthdays, during the Spring Festival or special holidays and so on because they want to show their love and thanks to each other. But gifts arent always the same and gifts are never too small. Different people have different hobbies. Different gifts stand for different meanings. So we should choose different gifts to send different people. But we also remember: Students shouldnt send expensive gifts to others and never spend too much money on gifts. Why? Because we are poor students. We cant make money by ourselves. Todays homework is to choose one of the following to make new conversations. 1: Suppose your good friends 14th birthday is coming soon. What should you send to him or her?2: Teachers Day is coming soon. What are you going to get her or him? 教学设计的理由:这节课从整体上学习、感知“Gift giving and giving suggestions and comments。由于这个话题学生熟悉,了解、并有一定的生活基础、实践经验和亲身经历,因此,在设计教案时我们从“猜礼物”这个学生话题入手,一下子把学生的注意力吸引到英语课堂教学活动中来,到后来的“说理由”、“编对话”、“谈看法”、“作总结”等教学步骤,为师生间进一步的学习讨论、交流互动和探究提高打下了良好的基础,使学生能够自始至终充满激情、充满自信、充满期待地投入到我们的英语课堂教学的各个环节之中,使教学活动步步深入,逐步推向高潮,比较有把握地达到预期的目的。尔我们在每个步骤、每一个环节之间,教师的适时称赞和肯定为学生的学习鼓舞了士气,振奋了精神,同时恰到好处的导入、点评为学生铺平了道路,扫清了障碍,也为学生的发散思维提供了依据,打下了埋伏,减轻了难度。在教学过程中,我们不仅特别注重培养学生运用英语进行交际的能力,而且特别注重对学生进行思想情感教育和文化渗透,使学生在学习知识的同时,增长其它能力以达到我们所期待的最好结果。在这节课的设计中,我们的教学思路相当
