武汉理工大学硕士学位论文 中文摘要 地名学是对地名的词源、意义等进行系统分析的门新兴科学。对地名的 研究涉及到包括地理、历史、社会学和语言学等诸多学科，并为这些领域提供 有价值的研究素材和资料。然而，中国以往的地名学研究大多过分侧重于词源 的探究，而忽略了其它重要的方面。 根据符号学的理论，地名作为单纯的语言符号，具有明显的指示特征；作 为社会语言符号，则必然受到其社会文化语境的影响和制约。地名的命名因此 具有典型的社会性。 本文以 武汉地名志中收录的全部地名为语料，以地名的社会性为线索， 第一次系统全面地从构词法的角度对武汉地名构词特点进行统计归纳，通过对 武汉地名，尤其是通名部分的词汇使用频度进行地域化的共时比较和量化分析， 以及对武汉地名中特殊发音现象的考察，归纳并总结出武汉地名的命名规律及 其反映出的武汉地域特点。 地域文化是地名社会性的又一直接体现。作为文化的载体，地名受当时当 地历史、政治、宗教、人口等文化因素的制约，无法逾越某个特定的文化范畴； 同时，地名又是地域文化的一面镜子，它能反映出文化的方方面面。武汉地名 的演变充分反映出地名与文化密不可分的关系。一些地名甚至已融入武汉人民 的日常生活之中，成为武汉地域文化的一个重要组成部分。总之，武汉地名有 着鲜明的语言文化特征，具有浓郁的地方色彩，在地方文化中占有重要的地位。 文章最后还对地名的翻译给出了建设性意见。对于地名的翻译，中国相关 的法律法规规定采用联合国地名委员会确定的“单一罗马化”方案，即单一使 用汉语拼音进行音译。但在实际交流中这种“一刀切”式的音译方式却造成了 许多的混乱。根据g u t t ( 1 9 9 1 ) 对关联理论在翻译中的应用的解释，成功的交
