Teaching Plan for Unit3 Could you please clean your room?(Section A Reading)Teaching objectives:At the end of this period, students are expected to understand the new words and expressions: the minute, as.as., neither do I, etc. aware the variety of sentence expressions in similar meanings. act out the conversation vividly. aware the importance of sharing chores at home.Teaching focus: The students will be able to apply the reading skills of prediction, skimming and scanning into practical use. The students will be able to feel the features of language and the different feelings it brings out.Teaching procedures:ProceduresLearning activitiesTeaching purposesLead-in1. Lead in by talking about weekend activities. T: What did you do on the weekend? Did you do any housework? Do you do housework at home? Who does most housework in your home? T: Imagine no one does any chores for a week, what will your home be like?2. Discuss two questions:Do you do chores at home?Who does most of the chores in your home?T: Imagine no one does any chores at home, what will your home be like?To warm up the students state of learning and arouse students interests of learning new things.Pre-reading1. Compare two different kitchens.T: Which kitchen do you prefer?2. Predict why the kitchen of Nancys family is dirty and untidy.T: Why is it dirty ? Can you guess?T: Maybe your guess is right, maybe wrong. Why dont we read the passage and find out the reasons?To get students ready for the new topic and apply the skill of prediction according to the theme picture before reading. While-reading1. Let students think of the text type of the passage and the way to deal with a story through five wh-questions. T: We can also find the text type through the title. You really have sharp eyes. T: When we talk about a story, we can always deal it from five useful questions. What are they?To help students learn the way of dealing with a story.2. Scan the passage and find the answers to the “who, when, where” questions.To help students learn to scan. 3. Divide the story into three scenes according to the three different times. T: Well, it would be easier for you if we divide the story according to the time line. From “last month, for one week, the next day”, the story can be divided into three scenes, right?To help students have a clear idea of the structure of the story.4. Read Scene1 carefully and fill in the chart: 2) Discuss in groups and feel the feelings in the conversation. 3) Role play the conversation.T: Nancys mom came over. What would they talk about?T: At first, Nancy and her mom were very Ss: Polite.T: But are they polite all the time? Could you please discuss with your partners about the change of feelings.T: Wow, I think you understand the conversation very well. Could you please role play the conversation with your partner? Lets see who would be the best actors!1. To help students guess the information behind the words.2. To provide students with more opportunities to practice the target language3. To taste fun from imitating and act out what they feel.4. To aware the importance of being polite.5. Read Scene2 carefully and guess who would do the housework. Pay attention to the variety of expressing the sentences in similar meanings.T: From Scene1, we know both Nancy and her mom were angry. So what would happen?T: Why didnt Nancys mom and Nancy do any housework for a whole week?T:So who would do the housework, Nancy, Nancys mom or the dog?To help students feel why Nancy and her mom didnt do the housework and guess who would do the housework in Scene 3.6. Read Scene 3 carefully and answer the questions.1) Who cleaned the house?2) How did Mom and Nancy feel? Discussion: Why does Nancy write the story? To help students realize that everyone needs to share the housework.Post-readingGroup work: Create the ending of the storyDiscuss with group members and continue writing the story. Pay attention to the tips.T: In the story, we know Nancy said sorry first. How would Nancys mom feel after hearing Nancys words? What would Nancy do later? What would happen next? Where was Nancys father? T: There are still a lot of questions we dont know. Could you please continue writing the story? Brainstorm with your team and be creative.1. To create a stage where the students can work together and show themselves.2.
