January 16, 2013Justin33 CommentsFluency Essentials, slang, Vocabulary How many ways do you know how to say “goodbye” in English? Do you abuse and overuse them? This is your chance to expand your repertoire of farewells with a lesson on the 26 most dynamic, fun, and essential ways to say goodbye in the English language.用英文说再见你会多少种方法?你是否滥用或过度重复用某些方法?扩大告别方式的机会来了,本文用26种生动、有趣而又不失真切的方法告诉你在英语语言中如何地道地道别!Lets face it, “goodbyes” are complicated, they are full of difficult to convey thoughts and emotions, subtle messages and pressures, and they are often pretty important. Its awkward in your native tongue, but in a second language it can be painful.面对事实吧,“道别”是很复杂的行为,它们在传达思想情感、潜在的字面信息和压力感时充满了困难,但它们又是那么的重要。当你用自己的母语道别时你感到很难为,但是用第二语言道别让你更加痛苦。Its one of the most fundamental yet underestimated aspects of the English language, and its how people remember us.道别是英语语言中最为基础的部分但却是英语中被低估最多的方面,它是人们记住我们的原因。5 Basic Goodbyes You Probably Know Already5种你可能已经知道的最基础的道别方式Goodbye/ ByeGoodbye is rarely used and often as a definitive goodbye (I will not see you again) while bye is more relaxed and informal.Goodbye很少用,通常用于定义道别(我将不会再见你)而bye 是一种更放松、非正式的道别方法。See You Later/ See you/ LaterIn see you later and see you, the “you” is pronounced as ya (with the same sound of the “u” in fun).在 see you later 和see you中,“you”发音发作ya(跟单词fun中字母“u”的发音一样)。6 Essential Goodbyes to Add to Your Repertoire6种增加知识含量的必备道别方式It Was Nice to See You AgainIt is one of the most effective and important things you can include in your goodbye to a person you already know.这是你再向某人道别时最有效而又重要的方法之一,你应该将它收入囊中。Take CareIt is one of my favorites because its good to use in both informal and formal situations, with friends and strangers, and always seems to have a sincere feel to it.这是我最喜欢的道别方式之一,因为无论是正式还是非正式场合,跟朋友或陌生人,你都可以用这句话来表达真切的慰问,道一声珍重。Take it EasyIt is another one of my favorite greetings, and it is what I use in informal situations. While a lot of people use “Take it easy” to say “calm down” (which is another use of it, as exemplified in the Eagles song “Take it Easy”), the goodbye communicates that I hope you have the chance to relax and enjoy whatever it is you do.这是我最喜欢的另外一种道别方式,我通常用于非正式场合。虽然很多人在劝别人“保持冷静”(凡事看开些)时会用上一句“Take it easy”(这是“Take it Easy”的另外一种用法,如同老鹰乐队的一首单曲“Take it Easy”的用法),这种道别方式传递着我希望你有机会放松一下,享受当下的意思。Have a Good OneIt is another awesome American greeting that basically wishes the other person well. You can say have a good “day” or “week” or “trip” or “vacation,” but “have a good one” communicates the general intention without focusing on the specifics of any one event.这是另外一种美式道别方法,主要表达希望某人安好。你也可以说have a good “day” or “week” or “trip” or “vacation,”但“have a good one” 表达的是整体的一种关切问候,没有特殊的指某个具体的方面。Have a nice _ is another common greeting that you can use in many situation. Similar to the above example, were always saying “have a nice day/ week/ vacation/ meeting, etc.” Its one of the most universal and respectful ways to say goodbye to another person. This is a goodbye we well as a way to say good luck.Have a nice.是一种常见的道别方式,可以用于很多场景。同上面的例子,我们经常说“have a nice day/ week/ vacation/ meeting, 等等。” 它是最普遍而又最有礼貌的一种道别方式。它也是我们表达祝愿好运的方式。Until. This is not as common of a greeting as it used to be, but it is used when you know youre going to see the person (until tomorrow/ until Saturday, etc).这种方式不像它过去那么常见,但它用于表示当你知道你即将会再见到某人(如明天见、周六见,等等。)15 Cool Slang Goodbyes Youll Never Learn in School15种你在学校绝对学不到的道别俚语Peace (Out)It was really popular a few years back, but is still pretty common in some circles. It comes from the universal expression of “Peace,” has become a verb (Im going to peace out now. See you later!), and is often accompanied by the two fingered peace sign. This is a semi-hip-hop informal goodbye, so make sure you dont use it in a business meeting. I still use this one with my friends.几年前这种道别方式很流行,不过现在在某些圈子里仍然很常见。它起源于最常见的表达方式“Peace,”已经动词化(我要消失了。再见!),通常还配有2跟手指做消失状的动作。它是有些半嘻哈的非正式的告别方式,所以千万不要在商务会议中说哦。至今我与朋友间还保留着这种说法。Im out of here(“Im ouda here) or a simple “Im out” is a quick and informal way to announce that you will be leaving amongst your friends.(“Im ouda here)或一句简单的“Im out”是快速非正式的在朋友间表达你将要离开的方式。(Ill) Catch You Later/ Catch You On The Flip SideWhile Catch You Later is still in popular use, Catch You on the Flip Side is a bit more rare.Catch You Later仍然是很流行的用法,Catch You on the Flip Side用的较少些了。I gotta* go / I gotta* get goingThese are both easy ways to delicately let somebody know that you need to leave and start to say goodbye.Example: “Look, Jack, I gotta get going. It was nice to see you again.Take care.”这俩种是表达你将要离开告别的简单方式。例子:“喂,杰克,我得走了。见到你很高兴。保重。”I Gotta Jet“Jet”, which is literally a huge passenger aircraft, has been made into a goodbye that means that you are leaving promptly (like a jet)!“Jet”字面意思表示巨大的喷气载客飞机,它已经被广泛的用于表示马上要离开(犹如一架喷气式飞机)!I Gotta Take OffSimilar to “Jet,” take off is another word that comes from aircraft terminology. Take off is when the plane leaves the ground, so when you say that youre taking off, it means that youre leaving.如同“Jet,” take off是另外一个来源于飞机的术语。表示当飞机要起飞离开地面时,所以当你说 youre taking off就表示你即将离开。I Gotta RollWhile “roll” literally is used for things with wheels (car, skateboard), it means to make movement, so when you say “I gotta roll,” it means that you need to move.“roll”字面意思表示带轮子的东西(如车,滑板),它表示移动,所以当你说“I gotta roll,”就表示你要离开了。I Gotta RunThis one seems pretty self-explanatory. Although youre not really running, “I Need to Run” indicates more hurry in your goodbye.这句听起来是不解自明的。尽管实际上你并不是跑,“I Need to Run” 表明你的道别更匆忙些。I Gotta Split“Split,” which means “divide” in many cases, here means to leave quickly, or to head in the other direction.“Split,”很多情况下表示“分开”,这里表示迅速离开,或者向相反方向前行。I Gotta Make Tracks“Tracks” are the footprints you leave on the ground, so when you say “make tracks,” it means to leave a trail of footprints and leave.“Tracks”是你留在地上的脚印,所以当你说 “make tracks,”它表示留下一排脚印,离开。I Gotta Hit The Road“Hit” in this sense means to “get on” or “start” on something, so “Hit the Road” mean to leave/ start moving on the road.此处“Hit” 表示“开始、着手”做某事,所以“Hit the Road”表示要离开,开始步入途中。I Gotta Head (Out)“Head”/ “Head out” is a
