口语-第八讲-自然万物环境&家人朋友人物1. What do think is the most serious environmental problem in China? There are several, air/water/noise/light pollution. Fossil fuels, population, cars, construction sites. Those environmental problems also bring disastrous consequences including holding back the development of the society and leading serious economic losses. 2. Do you think it is the governments responsibility to solve environmental problems? The government and individual should work together to solve environmental problems. As the government: impose restrictions to prevent the environment, arouse the publics awareness through variety of ways like public service announcement, regular the running of certain industry such as mining industry, chemical industry and pharmaceuticals. As individual: save energies like electricity, water and gas, take public transportation rather than driving private cars, use eco-friendly and renewable materials.3. How do you feel if you work in a noisy environment? Must feel quite annoyed, because its difficult for one to concentrate on the work with all kinds of noises around. I think I will definitely freak out no matter how perfect the pay is, I will never work in such a hell.4. Are cities becoming noisier? In my opinion, yes. There are more cars, factories, construction sites and more people, so no wonder cities are becoming noisier. Many cities are very densely populated and businesses close late and nightlife never dies. Although noise itself is not leading to death but it adds much to peoples stress and state of mind, it makes people nervous all the time which affects greatly the quality of life. But what can I say, we live in the urban area, noise is just its theme.5. What are the sources of waste (& rubbish) that society produces? Electrical appliances, plastic packaging, industrial debris. Two categories, first, industrial source like the factories, construction sites and domestic consumption, second, private source like motor vehicles, residential eaters and family consumption. 6. Do you think that advertising leads to the production of more garbage in society? General unhealthy consumption concept, stimulate unnecessary consumptive demand. Mislead people buy somethings useless, encourage customer purchase disposable commodities. 7. Do young people and older people have the same attitudes toward waste disposal? Young people and older people hold exactly opposing views. Young people: they prefer purchasing disposable goods as they can easily throw them away as soon as they finish using them but the good thing is that young people hold knowledge about how to sort refuse to assist recycling waste. Older people: they tend to save all sorts of things, seldom throw away things until they are totally worn out, but they lack of refuse sorting knowledge and always put all kinds of waste together and even throw away batteries which can seriously pollute the environment.8. Are there any differences between childhood friends and friends in adulthood? A childhood friendship has innocence and there easier ties to make with someone when you are younger. There are also easier ways to find things in common with another person when you are younger. 9. Which do you like is better, to have a large group of friends or just a few close friends? I believe in quality over quantity when it comes to close friends. I feel more comfortable hanging out with my small band of pals, and I know I can be myself and I trust them all implicitly. 10. What do you think is the value of teaching history in school? Past can in some way help us to predict about the future, avoid the same mistakes that were made by our ancestors, is a good way to learn tradition, culture and ancient civilizations, appreciate the life we have now (war), teaching history is to engage students in thinking about life.11. What methods do most people use to memorize things?Its depends on what kind of learners they are.For visual learner who memorize things by seeing, they prefer to use their visual memory, they hold their certain ways for learning and memorizing such as associating things they need to learn with diagrams and writing down things.For auditory learner who learn things by hearing, which I believe that the best way for them to learn and memorize is reciting. 12. Can you think of any ways to enhance ones memory in order to increase ones learning capacity?Frankly speaking, based on my own experience and knowledge, there are several ways for people to enhance their memory such as:Regular use of their brains, people can engage in some activities like reading, taking classes and playing bridge, crossword puzzles and some memory games to improve their brain function.Since different types of people prefer to use different ways to learn and memorize things, finding the correct method will definitely help them to get twice the result with half the effort. To alternate work with rest properly is also important, peoples memory can be badly influenced if they suffer huge pressure, they need certain amount of relaxation for working efficiently, so they need work on their time management skills to allow sufficient recreation. 13. Are there any differences today in the way children are brought up, compared to years ago?Compared to years ago, today children can receive proper education and learn more subjects in school, and they also get to know some social skills in their early age, which will definitely benefit their future but they have to suffer gradually increased pressure form the society, their family and contemporaries. Right now its quite common that most chinese families only have one child, since that children tend to receive full attention from their parents but they can be easily spoiled and become too dependent.With the development of economy, technology and the society, children have variety ways for recreation and their living standard is improved but they are becoming materialistic. 14.
