Moral Objectivesa. Its necessary and important for us to find out the environmental problems, the causes and how to deal with them.b. Everyone should play a part in protecting our environment. Teaching Key Points1. to get students to master how to share the environmental problems, the causes and the proper solutions.2. to cultivate students awareness of being a host in environmental protection. Teaching Difficult points1. to master the key words and sentence patterns2. to lead students to get a better out-put through the lesson. Teaching MethodsAudio-lingual Approach, Situational Communicative Approach, Task-based Approach. Teaching AidsMufti-Media with backboard design. Teaching ProceduresStep1. “Best Memory”-Lead-in Have students talk about their best memories in the past.With the music, show some pictures about the environment in a row on the screen. Then, remind them of their memories, especially the beautiful sights.T: Enjoying this song, lots of old pictures come into our mind suddenly, right? What was your hometown like?S1: I was. .Step2. “Environmental Problems”-Presentation To present the kinds of pollution, get students to share their experiences, including the noise pollution, air pollution and water pollution as followings:T: Is there anything wrong with the environment around you?S1: .T: Absolutely, why is the noise pollution becoming more and more serious?S2: Because people always play loud music around here.S3: .Step3. “Worse or More” -Talk around Help students practice talking more about the environmental problems and then share talks with others around them.(sample to set:)A: What kind of pollution is becoming worse in your neighborhood?B: Water pollution.A: What caused it actually?C: The factories often pour the waste water into the rivers or lakes.D: And .Later, get some of them to share their talks and offer some positive comments to enable almost everyone to be available to share their memories well with some new word expressions and the target language. Step4. Listening Practice(part1) Show some old pictures of the pollution first and then have students describe what kind of pollution it is. Besides, look through the statements about the problem, presenting the new words: bottom, fisherman and government. Play it for the first time.“What was the problem?” “The river was _. Even the bottom of the river was full of _. .” Then, ask students to listen to the recorder and finish the next questions.“What caused the problem?”“How should the problem be solved?”. Check their answers by listening again. Meanwhile, have them imitate the materials individually.Step5. Listening (part2) First, listen to the interview and circle the kinds of the pollution.Then, read the sentences together and complete them while listening.Besides, get students to read the letter aloud together after the tape, especiallyunderstand some difficult language points.Enlighten students to think further.T: What kind of pollution are they talking about?SS: . Dialogue Practice Encourage students to read the dialogue and complete the chart.Before it, guide them to have a simple discussion.Check the information according to the chart.Help them come up with some possible ways of protecting the environment.Step6.
