This will be achieved by1. acquiring the new words about place nouns on the street, such as post office, police station, restaurant etc.2. mastering the usage of There be.3. recognizing the directions on the map.4. fulfilling a listening task.5. . encouraging the students to talk about the directions in the neighbourhood.解决教学重点难点的措施Teaching key and difficult points:In this lesson the key point is the way to ask for and give directions on the street.The difficult points are the new vocabularies and phrase about places and the usage of There be. And because the students are in the classroom, it is difficult for them to reach the outside world and talk about the way to asking for and give directions on the street. Solutions: I will teach the new words in the following four steps by:1. asking the students the question: Where do you want to go in the neighbourhood? Students can tell me some words they have already known. 2. using the Spotlight to present the new words, which can stimulate students interests to explore the places under the screen and to talk them in English. 3. designing a context for students to fill in blanks which are about place nouns. 4. using the listening material train students ability of grasping the key words about place nouns. With these four ways, I try to make it easy and natural for students to grasp the new words.And the usage of There be is also hard for student to grasp. So I will solve this difficulty by:1. using the software Google Earth to present this new expression. It can also create a vivid atmosphere for students to use the language, so the students can talk about the directions on the map naturally and successfully. 2. organizing students pairwork to practice the dialogue.3. leading students to imitate the listening material.学习者分析The students I am facing with are from Grade 7. They always show their strong curiosity about English. And they have a fairly sharp hearing and extraordinary imitative competence. Before this unit, students have already learned Where questions and some place nouns, such as supermarket, school, zoo, park etc., and most of them acquired them well. So this unit can help students to broaden their vocabularies about places and use them in asking for and giving directions. Whats more, There be is also one of the most important grammar knowledge in junior-middle-school English learning.However, because Grade 7 students are still in the transitional process of cognitive development, they are slow of comprehension. And their attention could easily be diverted by other irrelevant things while learning. And they dont like mechanical and tedious repeating and grammar learning.教学环节活动目标教学内容活动设计媒体功能应用及分析 Lead inTo lead the class in and warm the students up.The places students can see on the map, such as hotels, hospitals and so on.T: What is this? Where is here?T: In Ruian, I can see a school. What other places can you see?通过Google Earth定位到学生正所处的学校,然后再通过问题What other places can you see?引导学生说出已经学过的地点名词。Presentation To present the new words with the help of Spotlight. The new words in this lesson:post office, police station, hotel, restaurant, bank, hospital, street, pay phone.T: Can you find more places?T asks Ss to come to the front to explore more places. T uses this way to present the new words.通过Whiteboard的聚光灯功能,学生可以探索互动白板上的地点。I want the students to be able to recognize the different places in the context and it is also a second time for students to be stimulated by the new words.
