Under the influence of her writer father, she gained interest on writing at an early age. In 1860, her novel and poetry were first published on The Atlantic. Then,after 8 years later, her most famous book, Little Women, got published and quickly became a best seller. As a female writer at that time, Louisa May Alcott promoted the development of feminism.About the bookAs we all know, Little Women, is one of the most representative novels in America history and has been popular for over 100 years. There are dozens of versions of this book in different languages all around the world. Moreover，It has been filmized into movies, TV series, and cartoons in many countries. However,The version of little women,i read, was published on 1994 by Penguin Books.There are 272 pages in the book.Main contents of the book /A summary of the bookLittle Women is a story based on the fact of the authors life. The characters in this book presented the feminist spirit and thinking of the author. It mainly talks about lives of four girls and her mother Mrs.March during the Civil War. The four girls are: Meg ,the eldest daughter in the family,who takes care of her three little sisters maternally and chooses to live a poor life with her beloved one;boyish Jo who is brave and decisive and has her own dream; Beth who is angelic and sweet but unfortunately dies of scarlet fever; Amy who is delicate and tender and later becomes a true lady. Among the four girls, Jo, is my favorite . She was superior to the other women on being much closer to fighting with sexism. Very close, but not there yet. Unlike other girls who behaved like quiet water, Jo was neither soft nor gentle. She acted like a boy and determined to be like a man.For instance,I hate to think Ive got to grow up and be Miss March, and wear long gowns, and look as prim as a China Aster. Its bad enough to be a girl, any way, when I like boys games and work and manners. I cant get over my disappointment in not being a boy, and its worse than ever now, for Im dying to go and fight with papa, and I can only stay at home and knit like a poky old woman. (7; chapter 1) These words indicated that Jo was not willing to bend over men but meant to stand with them, while her sisters were all dreaming about a bright and comfortable life as a pretty wife. At this early age, the wish and belief of Jo was so strong that she showed no compromise to the so-called mens world. Whats more,it symbolized the bud of feminism which was just reaching the peak of the first-wave at those days. Mrs.March,anther important person that i like, is not only a pretty great mother but also the queen of the family. Because of her selfless love and strong faith, her daughters can face up to the hard life hopefully and confidently. Her attitudes toward the lives teach her daughters that there must be something more important and necessary than fortune and status, which will accompany them till the end of life. For example,“Money is a needful and precious thing,and, when well used, a noble thing,but I never want you to think it is the first or only prize to strive for. Id rather see you poor mens wives, if you were happy,beloved, contented, than queens on thrones, without self- respect and peace.”(72,chapter 9)Marmee tells Meg that she does not want any of her daughters to marry for material comforts, as was suggested by a guest at the Gardiners. At a moment in history when womens futures hinged solely on their choice of a husband, Marmees statement is very compassionate and unusual. After all, the other guests at the party easily assume that Meg must be intending to marry for money.Diligence is not just Chinese womens virtues, but also the oldest human virtues regardless of culture, regardless of national boundaries. Pleasure is not a shortcut to happiness, in pleasure on this road just happy to see a mirage. Happiness is not the end, but the process is the landscape on both sides of the road of life, only diligent labor, in order to extend a warm welcome in happiness.Because Mr. and Mrs. March conduct themselves in an example way, the daughters correct gradually their weakness, and conquer hardship. At last, the Marches lead a happy life. Mrs. March promotes that female cannot marry only for money, and the common people own a great deal of real happiness. Her marriage mind has an effect on their daughters. Taking Meg and Jo for an example, both of them live in a poor condition, and give up going for money. Besides, Mrs. March is kind and virtuous. Even if Lauries trick hurt Meg, Mrs. March also forgave him. All about the qualities are worth to learn and use for reference, meanwhile, they are the pith of novel. ConclusionAfter reading the book , i have to say that for girls, home was not only the place which they grew up, but also a location avoided hardship. And from their mothers .they learned how to use their skillful hands, bright brain to create a meaningful life. As poor as these girls were, they all had the positive attitude to any matter,they know their shortcomings and corrected them as soon as possible.Just like the eye because of flows the multi- tears but Pure Brightness, the heart because of had experienced much suffering but is good-natured.No matter how hard situations they face to, they all use the optimistic attitude to manage to make life meaningful and beautiful.
