Unit 5 Why do you like pandas? Section B 2a-2c一、教材分析及学情分析本单元的topic是animals, 本章节通过对濒危动物的调查,引出保护濒危动物“大象”的语篇阅读,培养学生保护动物的意识和人文素养,同时培养学生归纳中心与分析结构的阅读技巧。地处偏远农村地区中学的学生对说英语,读英语,还有一些心理障碍,不敢开口,放不开。对学习英语也缺乏主动性,自学能力差。听不懂,不敢说,不愿读,不会写。但是经过经过训练后,也能掌握一些学习策略和阅读技巧。二、教学方法及教学资源 1.教学方法:直观教学法、课堂互动法、情景教学法。2.教学资源:交互式电子教学白板,教材,PPT三、教学目标: 1. 语言知识目标: 1) 能掌握以下单词:save, symbol, flag, forget, place, water, danger, cut, down, cut down, tree, kill, ivory, over 2) 能掌握以下句型: The elephant is one of Thailands symbols. forget to do sth. / forget doing sth. We must save the threes and not buy things made of ivory.2. 能力目标:通过阅读训练来让学生们逐步提高英语阅读和分析能力。3. 情感态度价值观目标: 动物和人类都生活在同一地球上,动物是我们的朋友。我们人类应该与动物和谐相处,共同生存。我们应当学会关爱动物,保护动物。四、教学重难点1. 教学重点: 1) 掌握重点单词及句型。 2)进行阅读训练,练习阅读技巧,提高阅读能力。 3) 通过阅读短文来了解世界各地一些其他动物的情况,让学生们眼界更宽阔。2. 教学难点 1) 进行课文听力训练,训练学生们通过听对话获取相关信息的能力。 2)进行阅读训练,来培养学生们的综合阅读能力。 五、教学过程 Step1. Warming- up and revision1. Greet the Ss as usual. 2. Check the homework. Let some Ss read out their descriptions and let other Ss guess what animal it is. 3.T: I also want to describe an animal. It is big and strong, its smart and has a long nose. Can you guess what it is? Ss: Elephant! T:Yes, you are right!(Show the picture of the elephant.) Today, we will go into the elephants world. lets review some words.1)Review some main words and phrases on the screen. save, symbol, flag, forget, get lost, place, danger, cut down, kill, ivory, over, be made of, Thailand, Thai2)Ss read and understand these words and phrases. (Show the ppt of the words.Ss read the words one by one, and then read together.) Step2. Discussing. 1.Now there are many animals are in danger in the world. Look at the chart below. What animals do you think are in great danger? Discuss with your group members and check the animals. 2. Let Ss say their answers. So there are so many animals are in great danger .Why? Show ppt of the question(Why so many animals are in great danger?)at the beginning. Do you want to know the reasons? Open your books and turn to page on 29, you will find the answers in this article.Step3. Reading1. Fast reading T: Now, read the passage quickly and find out: Whats the best title for this article?(First let Ss read these titles and translate.)Ss read the passage quickly and try to find the answer to this question. Check the answers. Listening Listen to the recording carefully and find the answers to these questions: What are the students from? Are elephants smart animals? When is Thai Elephant Day? Ss read the questions first. Then listen to the passage and find the answers to the questions. Check the answers with the class.3. Careful reading T: Now read the passage carefully and find the answers to these questions: 1) Let students to look at the map in 2c. There are four boxes around the word Elephants. The first box is about the importance of the elephants in Thailand. The second box is about the abilities of the elephants. The third box is about the facts and figures of the elephants. The last box is about how to save the elephants. 2) 阅读指导: 通读全文,掌握文章的大意。 读题目要求。第一方框为“大象的重要性”;第二方框为“大象的能力”;第三方框为“有关大象的一些实事及数据”;第四方框为“如何挽救大象”。根据这几方面的内容再回到短文中去寻找答案。 通过阅读可知:第一段末尾的两句说明了大象的重要性。第二段叙述了大象的一些能力;第三段叙述了一些有关大象的事实;如何挽救大象也应根据第三段的内容来填写。 3) Now first read the passage loudly and carefully and then find the main idea of each paragraph.(阅读指导3) 4) Read the first paragraph together , explain the language points, then fill in the blanks of the first box. 5) Read the second paragraph together , explain the language points, then fill in the blanks of the second box. 6) Read the third paragraph together , explain the language points, then fill in the blanks of the third and the forth box. 7) Check their answers.And retell the article according to the mind map . 8) Answer the question at the beginning of the class,and discuss “What should we do to protect animals?”4. T: From the article we see that most animals are in great danger, animals are peoples friends. Today, animals are in great danger. Tomorrow, maybe people are in great danger. So protect animals that is protect our people. ( show the video of Jay Chou.)Step4. Homework 1. Remember the new words and expressions learned in this period. 2.
