Teaching ProceduresStep I Lead-in (5 mins)Greetings,asking some questions and showing some pictures.T: Good morning everybody!Ss: Good morning, Miss Huang!T: Do you like traveling? If you were given a chance where you would most like to go?Listen to the students answers and give them some information about Xiamen.Information1: This city lies in the southeast of Fujian province.Information2: It is a coastal city, which is beautiful and clean.Information3: It enjoys the title of the National Garden City.Information4: Its famous for the Gulangyu Island, which is also called Sea Garden. Step II Fast Reading (15 mins)Ask the students to skim the dialogue alone and do exercise 1 and scan the dialogue and do exercise 2 on page 33.T: Ill give you 10 minutes to read through the dialogue alone and do exercise 1&2, then well check the answers.Activity1 1. Analyze the dialogue and have a further understanding of the text.Ask the students to read the dialogue carefully again and get some specific information about the city. Then tell them how to introduce or describe a place.Position: On the coast.The people: Friendly.The climate: Pretty hot and wet in summer and cold in winter.Place of interest: Gulangyu Island. Buildings: Lots of high-rise buildings and shopping malls.Food: Fish, seafood.b. Explain the dialogue and deal with some important and difficult language points.T: Now lets study the dialogue in detail. Well I need two students to read the dialogue from the beginning to para.9 and the others should listen to them carefully and underline the phrases or sentences you dont understand. Ok?Ss: Ok.T: So who want to try?Ok, you two, please.T: Good, thank you, sit down, please.T: In this part here are some language points you should pay attention to:(1) “I feel very fortunate living here.” It means I feel it is lucky to live here.(sb.) feel fortunate (in) doing sth. It means somebody feels it is lucky or honorable to do something. eg: I feel fortunate (in) studying with you.(2) quite a lot of: here means a large number or amount of sth.(3) pretty: in the sentence it is an adv. it means very, fairly ,quite. But the word is also an adj. it means beautiful, good-looking. eg: She is a pretty pretty girl.Step IV Summary (2 mins)In this class, we have learned a lively city-Xiamen and I believe that you must have learned more about the city. Through learning the dialogue we also learn some important language points and learn how to introduce a place.Step V Homework Assignment (1min)Write a passage to introduce your hometown or another place you like.VI.
