What is the matter with the old woman? Q2.Did the two men save the woman?And why? Q3.Did the young man save the old woman? Q4. If you were the young man in the picture, will you help the old woman like him? 1.2 Reading Practice阅读训练 1.2.1 Pre-reading 读前导入 Guide Ss to look at the title and the picture going with it only and make a prediction before reading.Q1. What is the matter with the old man?Q2. What is the woman beside him doing? Present several difficult words and phrases before reading like, passenger, get off, get onto/on, to ones surprise. 1.2.2 While-reading 读中理解 Ask Ss to read the passage very fast and make sure if the story comes from a book or a newspaper. T may ask:Do you think it comes from a book or a newspaper? How do you know? In this way, the teacher can help the students understand the type of writing of the story. Guide Ss to read Para.1 very carefully and then answer the following questions: 1. When did the news happen? 2. Where did the news happen? 3. Who were in the news?4. What would happen next?Answers:1. At 9:00 a.m. yesterday.2. On Zhonghua Road.3. The driver, a woman and an old man. Guide Ss to read Para.2 very carefully and then match the answers with different people(bus driver; the woman; the passengers). In this way, the students can understand more clearly what different people did to help the old man. Answers: Bus driver: stopped the bus; knew he had to act quickly; got off and asked what happened; told the passengers he had to help Woman: said that the man had a heart problem Passengers: helped Mr. Wang to move the man; agreed to help the bus driver Get Ss to read Para.3 very carefully and then answer the true or false questions: 1. Whats the result? Did he die?2. Whats the opinions of the passengers?Answers: 1.The old man was saved in time. 2.One passenger said that. 1.2.3 Post reading 读后理解 Guide Ss
