八年级下Unit 5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came?Section B Reading 教 案24团中学 鲍永玲单元教学目标与要求话题:难忘的事件功能:1.能讲述过去发生的事情2.能讲故事语法:1.能正确使用连词when 和while,并且when, while引导的时间状语从句中的过去时和过去进行时He was reading in the library when the rainstorm came.While Linda was sleeping, Jenny was helping Mary with her homework2.能恰当使用过去进行时结构进行提问和叙述:A:what were you doing at eight last night?B:I was talking a shower.A:what was Jenny doing while linda was sleeping?B:While Linda was sleeping,Jenny was helping Mary with her homework.词汇和常用表达:1.能使用下列词汇 alarm, storm, wind, light, area, wood,window, match,passage, pupil, silence, date, tower, truth, begin, report, beat, rise, kid, realize, strange, asleep, fallen, icy, heavily, suddenly, completely, recently, against2.能正常使用下列常用表达:go off, pick up, fall asleep, die down, have a look, make ones way, in silence, take down, at first3.能认读下列词汇:rainstom, flashlight, apart, shocked, terrorist学习策略:通过文章插图和标题等获取文章的主旨大意,训练快速阅读的技巧文化知识:1.了解美国民权运动领袖马丁路德金2.了解震惊世界的9.11恐怖袭击事件。Section B Reading (2a-2e)教学目标1 语言目标:通过阅读训练,学会运用过去进行时态,谈论过去的事情或讲述过去的故事。2 技能目标:能听懂有关过去发生事件,能简单描写过去发生的事件3 情感目标:通过本课的学习,培养学生崇尚自由民主、热爱和平的意识。教学重点利用恰当的阅读策略,正确使用过去进行时态,谈论过去的事情或讲述过去的故事。教学难点利用恰当的阅读策略,正确使用when, while引导的时间状语从句中的过去时和过去进行时在篇章中的运用教学方法情景教学法;任务型教学法。启发和疑难指导。二、【教学流程】Step 1 warm up1. Do you know the “911” event that shocked the world? Now lets see the real scene of “911”:视屏播完后,再展示关于世贸中心的图片,边出示图片,边做一个简单介绍2 . ( free talk)Let Ss look at the picture and talk about what they were doing when the plane hit the World Trade Center. (板书:the World Trade Center. )Introduce the “911” event by using the picture(板书:the “911” event was shocked)3.介绍马丁路德金让学生了解背景知识Do you know Martin Luther King and the world-famous speech I Have a Dream? 观看视频I Have a Dream (It is given by Martin Luther King.)Who is Martin Luther King? (he is a famous leader in America)(板书 Martin Luther King leader I Have a Dream)【意图】通过两个视屏(马丁路德金的演讲和911事件)让学生了解背景知识, 适当进行教材整合,重组优化课堂,激发学生的学习兴趣,而且进一步练习过去进行时,达到温故知新的目的。并且对两个事件的关键词进行板书,对后面的复述课文做好铺垫。Step 2 Reading一Before reading Show the pictures and title in the passage. And let Ss look at .Ask: What do you think the passage is about?( This passage is talking about two events.)意图:通过图片和标题预测文章内容,既是一个阅读前的预热活动,也同2b的任务相联系,同时也是本单元阅读策略的一项重要内容。通过问题启发学生将要学习的课文内容 二While reading Skimming 2b. Let students read the passage by using the reading skills. Read the passage and answer the questions.1. What are the two events in the passage?2. When did they happen?Let Ss read the passage, and find the answersAsk Ss: How do you find the answers to these two questions.Then invite some students to answer.(学生可以中文回答,教师总结)Q1:1. What are the two events in the passage?1) Dr. Martin Luther King was killed2) The World Trade Center in New York was taken down by terroristsS1:Read the pictures, title and the first/last sentencesQ2: 2. When did they happen?Dr. Martin Luther King was killed on April 4, 1968.The World Trade Center was taken down on September 11, 2001.S2: Fast reading (快速浏览课文,找出关键词)教师总结:we called fast reading and read the pictures, title and the first/last sentences is Skimming出示阅读技巧: Skimming - fast reading-Read the Title and First Sentences The title can be helpful for you to understand a text. It is also a good idea to read the first sentence of each paragraph before you read the whole text. 【意图】利用文章标题,图片以及每段的首末句,获取短文的主要意思,理解作者观点,弄清楚事件的发展脉络。通过自主学习与思考探究,培养学生的自主学习的能力和自学探究能力。给予学生恰当的策略指导,学生才能掌握相关的阅读策略。引导学生如何获取信息,而不是简单下达任务指令,任学生盲目寻找。Scanning 2c。 let students read and follow the tape. ( 跟录音读课文)Read the passage carefully. Are the following statements true (T) or false (F), or is the information not given (NG)? If it is false, tell us where it is wrong._ 1. Everyone in American remembers who killed Dr. King._ 2. Robert Allen was eating lunch when Dr. King was killed._ 3. Roberts parents were shocked to hear the news._ 4. Kate Smith was watching a movie when a plane hit the World Trade Center. _ 5. Kate didnt think her friend was telling the truth about the event.出示阅读技巧: Scanning-careful reading . tell students you can master more information about the passage. Let Ss read and follow.Check the answers.(if you choose F, tell us where it is wrong.)【意图】对文章的具体信息进行判断。不论学生判断句子正确与否,都要指出原文以确保他们在正确的地方找到了答案2d. 小组合作let students read again by themselves, and underline sentences from the passage with similar meanings to the ones below.1. Not everyone will remember who killed him, but they can remember what they were doing when they heard that he got killed Although some people may not remember who killed him, they remember what they were doing when they heard the news.2. No one said anything for the rest of dinner. My parents did not talk after that, and we finished the rest of our dinner in silence.3. September 11, 2001- the date alone means something to most people in the US. Even the date September 11, 2001 has meaning to most Americans4. I had trouble thinking clearly after that because I was very afraid.I was so scared that I could hardly think clearly after that.Check the answers one by one.(边讲边核对答案,边板书重点词组和词汇 remember to do/doing sth the rest of in silence. have trouble in doing sth be scared so that)【意图】此部分让学生深入的理解阅读,涉及到句子形式的变化与语义关系的对应。找同义句或近似句是语言训练的一种重要形式。通过2d活动,要让学生知道同一个意思可以采用不同的方式表达,这也是信息输入和输出转换过程中一个很关键的形式。三After reading ( do a summary about the passage) Let Ss fill in the blanks according to the passage. And read all together.【意图】根据课文内容,选取空白点,降低难度,扩展学生的思维空间。它融理解、记忆、归纳、表达于一炉,对提高口头表达能力有明显的作用。帮助学生更好的理解文章,同时深化学生对目标语言的掌握和运用。Step 3 Speaking Oral practice. group work.2e. How much do you remember about the events in the passage? Make a model with a student about the first event.( Dr. Martin Luther King was killed.)Q1: Who is? Q2: when did he die?Q3: What was doing when? Q4:group work : students make a conversation about the second event.Eg: Q1: What is 911? Q2: Where and what was the World Trade Center?Q3: What was doing when? Q4:Invite some pairs and share their conversation.【意图】针对课文进行小组合作,从而巩固对课文内容的理解,而且能够正确并加深过去进行时和 when/while引导的时间状语从句在篇章中的运用,也为下节课的写作奠定基础。学生的创造性思维是升华。此部分表面上看是对学生记忆力的检测,实际上是对学生提问能力的锻炼和培养。Step 4拓展阅读根据短文内容,找出同时发生的动作, What an unlucky day I had yesterday! Everything went wrong. In the morning, I was just putting out the washing when it started to rain, so I had to bring it all in again. Then I decided to clean our kitchen cupboard. While I was cleaning the top shelf, I lost my balance (平衡) and fell off the chair! Then, as I was washing the kitchen floor, the dog ran in and knocked over the bucket (桶) of water. And just before you came, I cut my finger when I was peeling the potatoes!【意图】巩固过去进行时并熟练掌握when/while引导的时间状语从句在篇章中的运用the rest ofin silencetake downat firsttell sb the truthhave trouble (in) doing sth.so that Step 5 Summary剩余的,其余的安静的,沉默的拆除,撞毁起初,首先告诉某人真相 做某事有麻烦 如此.以致意图:让学生复习词组, 并齐读,达到巩固的目的Step 6 HomeworkWriting 复述课文 使用重点词组和过去进行时,结合板书复述课文。【意图】这个作业的布置是为学生的写作练习提供一个模仿范例,为下一节课学习写作重大事件作铺垫。学生在理解和记忆的基础上,把阅读的内容加以整理,用自己的话,有重点,有条理,有感情地叙述出来。这是一种创造性的活动,而这种创造性活动又是有根据的,之前的课文学习和复述以及板书提供了一个榜样。Step 7 板书设计根据学习内容和学生谈论的情况板书重点词组和两个历史背景的重点信息:(根据板书提示可以口头描述两个重大事件)反思:阅读课在英语教学过程中既是教学重点,也是教学难点。而八年级起的英语教材中的阅读文章量加大,句型多样,时态语态变化多端,考试时阅读分值也增加。如何让有限的课堂时间成为学生提过阅读能力,提升阅读质量的手段之一,显得尤为重要。八年级英语教学的主要任务是培养学生的
