Unit 4 I used to be afraid of the dark.Section A (1a-2c)Step 1.Leading-in Do you remember what you were like three years ago ? When you studying in a primary school, what you were like ? What did you like doing ? Do you remember that ? I think everyone has changed a lot .For example, we were short at that time ,but now we are taller ; we liked watching TV at night , but now we have to study . Yes or No? Besides these , we have a lot of changes .Today well talk about the changes we have . Show two pictures of two students in our class. T: What does she he look like ? Do you think what she he is like ?Present: She is tall. She has long straight hair. She has two round eyes. She is outgoing and brave.Now ,describe your best friend like this:Ask students to tell their answers .Other students write the words about appearance and personality.Show the chart.AppearancePersonalityAsk students to read the words and phrases together.呈现新单词:humorous , silent , helpfulStep 2 Bobs friendsShow the two pictures of students which was showed before.Do you want to know what they used to look like and what they used to be like when they were children?Show the pictures of their childhood.T: They used to be .have.呈现句型:They used to be .have.解析:used to +动词原形,表示“过去常常做.”Eg: I used to get up late , but now I get up early. She used to be short, but she is tall now.Step 3 Listening practice Show the picture in 1b. Look at the picture , Bob is seeing some friends for the first time in four years. Theyve changed a lot. What did his friends use to look like? Scan the sentences before listening.Listening to the tape for the first time ,Ss write their answers.Listen again, check the answers by asking questions.Eg: Maria used to be _short_.He used to wear glasses.T: Did Maria use to be short? Did he use to wear glasses? Did Amy use to be short? She used to have short hair,didnt she? Then ask one or two students to answer questions like this:Tina used to have red and curly hair, didnt she ?Whats she like now?What does she look like now?1.教师引导学生理解1C的要求,让男女学生分角色朗读1C的对话,教师让学生找出used to的一般疑问句和反义疑问句。2. 让学生同伴之间完成1C的任务。“自我曝光”游戏(脑力大测验)1.教师拿出一张自己以前的照片,借助肢体语言叙述: I used to have long straight hair, 其他同学说出老师现在的情形。But you have short hair now.I used to be outgoing, 其他同学说出老师现在的情形。But you are a little serious.I used to like taking photos, 其他同学说出老师现在的情形。And now I still like it .学生们读句子,将老师过去的情形记下来,之后要求学生回忆并回答老师的问题:Eg : Did I use to have straight hair? Did I use to be silent ? 结对练习:两个学生就老师的情况一问一答,其他学生判断正误并点评。老师总结并鼓励。Step 5.Listening practiceT: Now we know everybody has changed a lot . What do you think of our monitor? Activity :Ask Ss to read the word in groups.Deal with the unknown word by themselves. Ask one group of Ss to read the words one by one, another group saying the chinese meaning of each word. Ask Ss to read the word together. Ask one group of Ss to describe your best friend with the description word in 2a. Eg: My best friend used to quiet, but now he is outgoing.Now listen to the tape and check the words you hear.Check the answers.T :Paula and Steve are good friends ,they havent seen each other for a long time . Paula has changed a lot . Now listen to the tape how Paula has changed.Ask Ss to read the sentences in 2b. Pay attention to “in the past” and “now” and the blanks. Guess the part of the speech.Listen to the tape for the first time , Ss only listen.Listen again , complete the chart about how Paula has changed. Check the answers.Step 6. Role-play the conversation.Make conversations about Paula using the information in 2b. A few minutes later, ask students to present their conversations.Step 7 . Summarize.
