Americans have so many different ways of greeting one another! In fact, many times an American greeting will consist of several greeting questions strung together. It is very common to hear a friend say,“Hi-Stone-Whats-up-how-are-you-doing-wow-I-havent-seen-you-how-have-you-been?”all in one breath. Although Americans generally believe that shorter is better, the function of greeting is an exception to the rule. Dont be surprised if you are greeted in this way. Just practice the following greetings and responses until they become automatic. Youll soon be saying “Wow-Im-great-never-been-better-everythings-going-my-way-how-about-you?” Hi!haI你好!【疯狂实战】A: Hi!(你好!)B: Hi!(你好!)A: Hi, Kim. How are you?(你好,Kim,近来怎样?)B: Fine. How are you doing?(很好。你怎样?)A: Hi, I havent seen you for ages.(你好,很久不见了。)B: Wow, I know. Its great to see you again.(是啊。 Kims Note: This may sound simple, but it is very important. It is so common to hear people “singing” the word “Hello” when you walk through the streets of China. I think it is great that people know an English word, but they would get a lot more response with a friendly “hi”. Never underestimate a simple word. Even “hi” can make a big difference. 2. Same old things are going on. Nothings changed. Just the usual things are going on”.“Not bad.(还好。 可以用来表示“How are you?(你好吗?)” 恰当的回答应该是:“Same old same old.(老样子,老样子。)”或“Nothing much.(一般。)”“Same old same old.” A: Hey, man!
