Intercultural communication- Family educationName:季鑫student ID:2014031101025class:嵌入式A班Part I: Introduction:It is well known that family is the first school in childrens life. Family education often play a big part in physical development、nature talent and shape characters of children. Nowadays, Chinese family education is improving well as a whole, but compared with family education in western country, we still have a long way to go. This paper makes a comparison of family education between China and Western Country. By comparison, Chinese parents can learn more from western family education, thereby improving our family educational system.Part II: Differences: Family education is a key ingredient of life education and directly affects the quality of cultivating talents. In the world of today, the international competition is increasingly intense, but this kind of competition is actually talents competition. Therefore, every country is paying more attention to family education in the educational project of talents cultivation. This problem has become a hot topic in China recently, attracting the attention of government and various circles, especially educational circles. The differences on family education between western country and china are researched deeply, with the result that the differences mainly express in value of child rearing, educational modes and ways and the result of education. The educational concept. In China, the order of parents should be absolutely followed. The contemporary family education of our country is still suffering from the influence of the traditional family values, parents meaning absolute authority, and dignity. In the family, all seniors can education in younger ones. Internally, family members seem to form a kind of inequality in interpersonal states. Parents usually focus on the growth of children, and ignored the development of personalities, and have not ever regard the child as an independent entity, but as a kind of property. That means the children have to follow their parents opinion, such as eating, wearing, which school to go to, what friends should be made, or activities. But in western countries, roles parents play are friends, guiders but not masters. Children are independent, and have their own ideas and views and interests. Parents not only pay attention to childrens growth, they think more about the development of individual character. Children have their own circle of friends, and have their own thoughts, mostly parents will not interfere. In our country, parents help children doing everything, governed all the things in their lives, and never let their children in. Their only want to children is study well and have cultural knowledge, and put their energy in learning every day, hoping that children can have a good mark, so that they can have a good future. Parents put all their focus on their children, even giving up their own interests. However, in western countries, children will do housework initiatively. They can work to earn money, or work at home to get pay from their parents. Generally, at the year of 18, they have to leave the parents homes. Some children even pay their college tuition by working themselves. They will not take for granted that parents must pay the tuition for them, and they feel very confident to live independently. The mode of family education between China and western countries is also very different. The Chinese family education mode is preaching education in general. Requesting children to behave well, well study, to be obedient and clever, this is good children and sensible children. So the children also does not allow to have any objection or original views, all things is decide by parents. This causes the child to be hesitated, lack of confidence or afraid to try when meeting things. When a child is doing not as well, they will take others to do contrast. This makes the child serious setback in confidence. But in the meanwhile, parents will also tell children to be modest and low-key. In western countries, parents education mode is more open and peace in general. Parents think that their children should to have individual characters, helping their children into a personality person is regarded as their responsibility. They allow their children to have the original opinion and ideas, but forbid to repeat what others say. Children have to find their own way to do their own things, and they get sufficient exercise in each kind of environment. This does not meaning permissiveness. The parents give their children absolute space for them to master the knowledge in the exercise. This trains their children the ability of independently finishing events, increase the confidence and the sense of responsibility. Parents will want children to develop various abilities, and wont regard study value too much, even not look into learning things, but as far as possible to let their children take part in all kinds of activities to raise their competition consciousness. Parents paying more attention to praise and drum excitation to their children, parents trust and praise will enhance their childrens self-confidence, and is the engine of growth of children. Part III: Analysis: Defects of Chinese family education: Chinese family education is greatly influenced by traditional Chinese culture and Chinese custom. It is also conditioned by the feudal family system. First, parents are rulers. Parents are supreme rulers. Most of the parents in China do not concern on their childrens feeling, because they think what they do for the children is just the childrens needs. Secondly, over-indulgence. Due to the implementation of one-child policy, one child family came in increasing numbers. The Chinese children have been considered as the apple in their parents eyes, even like a little emperor in ancient times. Parents help their children to do everything in all aspects of life. We can always see parents in a stream of cars to send and pick their children from school. Whats more, lots of parents fear that their children will face dangers or turn into bad because of the harmful effects from the society, they keep their children away from society. They dont permit their children go to the outside along. Therefore, Chinese children dont have opportunity to contract with society. Third: laissez-faire economics. In China, it is not surprising that an elementary school child have cell phone, mp4, laptop and digital camera. Parents spent all their hard-earned money on their children. Parents will meet all their childrens requirements on economy.Merits of western countries family education: First: respect children, treat them equal. Parents have a high respect for their childrens idea. In western countries, children have the rights to do what they want, their parents never control them, what they will do is just a simple advice. Secondly: focus on independency. They think children must form a self-supporting will and the ability to live by themselves since their childhood. Therefore, it is no strange to see many children washing clothes, cooking and weeding in western countries. Third: economic independence. Few parents will give pin money to children but will encourage children to work and earn money. They will give children enough opportunity to contract with society which allows them to be fully trained in various matters since they were young. They think part-time job or something like that can gain their childrens experience and capability to adjust society. Personal opinions: We may know from what has been said above that Chinese family education remains many problems to be solved. The western countries family education is worth China learning. First: stress on capability cultivation. From my point of view, our parents should learn from western countries parents on family education to offer more opportunities to let children contact with society. Only the child who has tasted bitter without parents protection can gain the capability and confidence to adjust society. Secondly: respect childrens choice. In parents minds of China, children should be obedient to them. They make the decision for children and never thought of their feeling. This may lead to a bad result that is children are lack of interest in everything because all the things are arranged by their parents. While in western countries, parents do not put pressure on their children. They believe that children have the right to decide something by themselves. Chinese parents should learn from their experience. Third: encouraging children. When children are facing difficulties they cannot perform well. Parents should encourage their children to do anything they like. If the child finished it, they should also say kind words of praise.
