Knowledge objects: To learn and master the key vocabulary: much, How much.?, sock, T-shirt, shorts, sweater, trousers, shoe, skirt, dollar, big, small, short, long To learn and master the target language: - How much is this T-shirt? - Its seven dollars. - How much are these socks? - Theyre two dollars.2. Ability objects: Train Ss listening and speaking skill. Train Ss communicative competence.3. Moral objects:该部分内容涉及学生的穿着,是爱美的中学生们最为关心的话题,比较贴近学生的生活,易于激发学生学习兴趣。购物时让学生学会节约用钱,让学生明白钱是家长辛苦赚来的,学会感恩父母。Teaching key points:To learn and master the key vocabulary and target language.Teaching difficult points:How to improve Ss abilities of listening and speaking.Teaching Methods:Listening, speaking, and discussing.Teaching aid:Multi-media.Teaching procedures:Step 1 GreetingsGreet Ss as usual.Step 2 Presentation1. Show Ss the title of this unit: How much are these pants? Then explain how much as needed. Then elicit the language goals in this unit.2. Show Ss some pictures to help them learn some names of the clothing items in this part.Step 3 Practicing (1a)1. Focus attention on the word list and ask Ss to repeat each word.2. Ask Ss to match the words with the objects in the picture by writingthe letter of the objects on the lines next to the words.3. Check the answers.Answers:1. socks i 2. T-shirt d 3. shorts a 4. sweater c 5. bag f 6. hat g 7. trousers j 8. shoes b 9. jacket h 10. skirt e Step 4 Listening (1b)1. Play the recording the first time. Ss only listen.2. Play the recording a second time. This time ask Ss to listen to the conversation and circle the things in the picture they hear on the tape.3. Check the answers.Answers: circled items: hat, shorts, sweaterStep 5 Pairwork (1c)1. Read the sample conversations. Ask Ss to repeat. Explain dollar as needed.2. Ss then practice the conversations in pairs. Ask them to use the clothing items from the main illustration. As Ss work, move around and check on their progress.3. Then ask a few pairs to present their conversations to the class. Step 6 Presentation (2a)1. Revise the names of colors we learned in Starter Unit 3.2. Show Ss two slides to present the new words: big, small, long, short.3. Focus attention on the colored boxes and sizes in 2a. Point to each one and name it, and ask the Ss to repeat after the recording.Step 7 Listening (2b, 2c)2b1. Play the recording the first time. Ss only listen.2. Play the recording a second time. This time Ss listen to each conversation and circle the things in the pictures they hear.3. Check the answers.Answers: circled items: big purple hat, brown sweater,red shorts, green T-shirt, long blue and yellow socks, black trousers2c1. Focus attention on the price tags in the pictures. Tell Ss that all the items in each group are the same price. 2. Play the recording again. Ask Ss listen to each conversation and write the prices they hear on the price tags.3. Check the answers.Answers: big purple hat-$5, brown sweater-$8, red shorts-$6, green T-shirt-$7, long blue and yellow socks-$2, black trousers-$9Step 8 Pairwork (2d)1. Point out the conversation in the illustration in 2c. Ask a pair of Ss to read it to the class.2. Ask Ss to work in pairs. Say, Make up conversations like the one in the illustration. Use the clothing items in the pictures in 2b.3. Ask a few pairs of Ss to present their conversations to the class.Step 9 Summary and homework In this class, we talked about clothing and asked about prices.
