Units Millimeters Language English 3D data is defined as geometry represented in X, Y, and Z planes. 2D data is defined as geometry represented in 2 planes of any combination of the X, Y or Z planes. 2D data is typically used for drawings. * For 2D drawing requirements see the Drawing Standard: C1800STA0024 2.0 CATIA Start Part Template: The start part will have the standards in this document built in. The start part must be used for all Fisker Automotive CATParts. The standards in this start part are used to facilitate and disseminate information across Fisker Automotive. The start part may be located in SmarTeam, (FAST) and retrieved by one of the following Methods. 1. Searching for the Standard document number “C1800STA0006” and viewing the linked documents for “Start_Part_(Rename)”. 2. Navigating to the Karma or Nina project and viewing the linked documents for “Start_Part_(Rename)”. 3. Searching the data base by setting the Class to “Part” and keying in “CAL_PRT- 0025687” for the ID. 4. Searching the data base by setting the Class to “Part” and keying in “Start_Part_(Rename)” for the CAD Identifier. There are many other methods of locating the start part, listed above are only a few of the more popular methods that are used to retrieve this file. For step by step instructions see Work Instruction C1800STA0094. egritsch Thu Oct 22 10:45:09 PDT 2015 STANDARD Last Review: 08/23/2012 Created by: Luis Avina, Amir Memaran Released by: Robert Dupuis Replaced: C1800STA0006.02 Document No: C1800STA0006.03 Page: 4 (28) Dept.: Quality / Information Management Dept.: Director, Program Management Template Number: C1800TPL045 / Printed documents are reference only 5515 East La Palma Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92807-2116 USA Tel: +1 714.888.4255 Fax: +1 714.888.4256 Specification Tree Standard: At a minimum there should be four mandatory branches in the specification Tree. 1. Parameters (Mandatory) a. Information that pertains to the engineering intent of the part. The information collected in the parameters branch of the tree is used to developed, design, manufacture and communicate engineering intent of the part to other down and cross stream recipient of the data. This branch contains levels which will be explained in more detail later in this document. 2. “PartBody” (Mandatory) a. This branch is shown in Figure 1 identified by the green gear. 3. “DETAIL PART INFORMATION” (Mandatory) a. This branch is shown in Figure 1 identified by the yellow icon with the red smooth curve on it. b. This branch labeled “DETAIL PART INFORMATION” is the location where all the other part geometry, engineering and design information that makes up the 3D part definition will reside. This branch is a geometrical set and is often referred to as a “Geo Set”. 4. Material (Mandatory) a. This branch is the detailed specifications of the material that the part is made from. Figure 1 egritsch Thu Oct 22 10:45:09 PDT 2015 STANDARD Last Review: 08/23/2012 Created by: Luis Avina, Amir Memaran Released by: Robert Dupuis Replaced: C1800STA0006.02 Document No: C1800STA0006.03 Page: 5 (28) Dept.: Quality / Information Management Dept.: Director, Program Management Template Number: C1800TPL045 / Printed documents are reference only 5515 East La Palma Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92807-2116 USA Tel: +1 714.888.4255 Fax: +1 714.888.4256 5. External References (Optional) a. In the event that relational design is utilized, copying and pasting with a link to another file, an “External References” Geo set will automatically be created. This Geo set should reside directly above the “DETAIL PART INFORMATION” Geo set, as seen in Figure 2. Do not rename the “External References” Geo Set. This Geo set should exist with its default name to ensure conformance across the company. 6. Isolated External References (Optional) a. In the event that relational design is utilized, and the links need to be isolated. This Geo set should reside directly above the “External References” Geo set, as seen in Figure 2. Do not rename the “Isolated External References” Geo Set. This Geo set should exist with its default name to ensure conformance across the company. 7. Annotations Set (Optional) Figure 2 egritsch Thu Oct 22 10:45:09 PDT 2015 STANDARD Last Review: 08/23/2012 Created by: Luis Avina, Amir Memaran Released by: Robert Dupuis Replaced: C1800STA0006.02 Document No: C1800STA0006.03 Page: 6 (28) Dept.: Quality / Information Management Dept.: Director, Program Management Template Number: C1800TPL045 / Printed documents are reference only 5515 East La Palma Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92807-2116 USA Tel: +1 714.888.4255 Fax: +1 714.888.4256 Specification Tree Standard Details: 1. Parameters a. Material - This node describes the type of material that the part is made of. Applying the material at the correct location is also extremely important. The material must be applied from the material catalog at the Part level, not at the Partbody level. See Figure 3.1.a and 3.1.b. Applying the material at the part level allows the information to be read into SmarTeam and communicated to other downstream applications which allows for automation and reduction of manual entry. When applied correctly this node will be populated automatically. See Figure 3 b. UNIFORM PART THICKNESS This parameter is intended for those parts that are made of a material that is one uniform thickness through the entire part. These parts are typically sheet metal parts. If the sheet metal workbench is not used, this parameter must be utilized. The intention is to create formulas and drive this value to other dimensions in the part. If the part is not a uniform thickness 0, Zero maybe used. c. COATING AREAS - Definition and explanation soon to come d. CRITICAL CHARATERISTICS - Definition and explanation soon to come e. SURFACE TREATMENTS - Definition and explanation soon to come Figure 3 egritsch Thu Oct 22 10:45:09 PDT 2015 STANDARD Last Review: 08/23/2012 Created by: Luis Avina, Amir Memaran Released by: Robert Dupuis Replaced: C1800STA0006.02 Document No: C1800STA0006.03 Page: 7 (28) Dept.: Quality / Information Management Dept.: Director, Program Management Template Number: C1800TPL045 / Printed documents are reference only 5515 East La Palma Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92807-2116 USA Tel: +1 714.888.4255 Fax: +1 714.888.4256 Figure 3.1.a Figure 3.1.b egritsch Thu Oct 22 10:45:09 PDT 2015 STANDARD Last Review: 08/23/2012 Created by: Luis Avina, Amir Memaran Released by: Robert Dupuis Replaced: C1800STA0006.02 Document No: C1800STA0006.03 Page: 8 (28) Dept.: Quality / Information Management Dept.: Director, Program Management Template Number: C1800TPL045 / Printed documents are reference only 5515 East La Palma Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92807-2116 USA Tel: +1 714.888.4255 Fax: +1 714.888.4256 2. PartBody This branch labeled “PartBody” is the location where the authoritative form, 3 dimensional shape, of the part is determined and communicated. See Figure 4.1. Fisker Automotive works to a mono detail part standard for the release of parts. A mono detail part is a single part described by a single CATPart file. This single CATPart file is not to contain non booleaned multiple partbodies in an attempt to describe two or more parts in an assembly. a. No Renaming of the main partbody (Mandatory) b. No Empty partbodies (Mandatory) i. There should be no empty partbodies in the CATPart file. If the CATPart file is going to be released it is not acceptable to release a surface representation of the part with no features in the main partbody. At a minimum the main partbody must have a BREP, which is often referred to as a dumb solid. ii. Empty bodies must be deleted See Figure 4.2 Figure 4.2 Figure 4.1 egritsch Thu Oct 22 10:45:09 PDT 2015 STANDARD Last Review: 08/23/2012 Created by: Luis Avina, Amir Memaran Released by: Robert Dupuis Replaced: C1800STA0006.02 Document No: C1800STA0006.03 Page: 9 (28) Dept.: Quality / Information Management Dept.: Director, Program Management Template Number: C1800TPL045 / Printed documents are reference only 5515 East La Palma Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92807-2116 USA Tel: +1 714.888.4255 Fax: +1 714.888.4256 3. “Detail Part Information” - Below the “Detail Part Information” Geo Set, you will find other Geo Sets, See Figure 5. This structure must be adhered to, in order to facilitate other down and across stream resources from finding and disseminating information across the company. Data should be placed in the appropriate Geo Set. Definitions and standards have been identified on the following pages. Geo Sets maybe added in order to clearly communicate Engineering or design intent. However if Geo Sets are added they must be added as children to the “DETAIL PART INFORMATION” Geo Set. This is done to control the size of the specification tree at the first level.
