1、i know what my students needladies and gentlemen, its my honor to be here. my topic is: i know what my students need.actually ,when i have been an english teacher ,i felt i have much confusion . at first , i didnt know what my students need .they didnt care about their study they showed deaf ears to

2、 my advice or criticism. when i pointed out their mistakes, i should weigh my words over and over not to hurt their feelings .at that time, i felt as if i lost my way in the sea.but one day, in my class ,some children quarreled for a students football , i took away that football and criticized that

3、boy , he felt very wronged .after class, he told me the truth of it .at the time , i knew i was wrong ,i was so sorry about that . from then, i bagan to listen to students .as a teacher, i tried my best to increase childens comprehensive abilities .however ,i seldom think about the questions in the

4、position of the students . perhaps, a good teacher should be the students friend; be humorous and not too critical about the students mistakes ; not only asks the students to listen to him but also likes listening to the students; not just focuses on the students marks but cares more about the stude

5、nts development in many ways. so after lesson students can listen, read, write, and think without force and pressure.so ,i gradually know what they need in the course of learning english.the most important need is joy and motivation .eg. i often play the game: words remember with my ss . i give them

6、 5 seconds, then i ask someone to spell .if he cant, ill catch them .from this, my ss never feel remember words is boring .if we can make our students feel :its fun to have english class ;i like to sing song and play games ;i really like my teacher ,she is nicewell ,they can enjoy learning what we h

7、ope ,and feel good about themselves. trust and understanding are very important too . do you agree with you ? childen shouldnt be given too many rules .we shouldnt try to force our ideas into their minds but try to think from the childens view .we should learn to offer childen opportunities to try,

8、to create and allow them to fail. when they met with difficulties ,i often encourage them: “come on !dont give up ! you are great !”now more and more students show interests in english, im glad to see that. in fact ,to be a good teacher , i need to be competent in english ;i need to be versatile, al

9、so ,i need to be able to organize games and activities. although ,im only a new teacher now, im young ,but im trying hard in this way. for my students, ill try my best to help them .this is my talk from my experience. thank you for your attention! the first english class i taught ive been an english

10、 teacher for six years. and i cant tell that how many classes i have taught in these years. but the first english class i taught is too special to forget. at the year of 2001, when i walked into the classroom with enthusiasm, i saw my students of grade five. they were excited and looked at me with b

11、ig interests and curiosity. that was their first english class, too. for i had prepared carefully before the class, i was not nervous, but a little exciting. the material was so easy that we finished it in 20m. so i have half of the class left! what could i do? suddenly an idea occurred in my mind.

12、i asked them to think over and tell me the features of their favorite english teacher. my smile encouraged them. the children were active. then i got some advices which i would value as my precious treasure in all my teaching life. to be our friends, they said, dont test too often, please. keep your

13、 smile, please, its so nice! the kids vied to be first. until today i still keep the words in my mind. love the children, smile to them, encourage them and pardon them. i learnt these in the first class i taught and sum them up in my later teaching life. i am sharing my first class here, and i reall

14、y want to listen to yours. i hope i would have the chance. so much for this, thank you for your listening. the students and group learning group work is a cooperative activity: five students, perhaps, discussing a topic, doing a role-play or solving a problem. in groups students tend to participate

15、more equally, and they are also more able to experiment and use the language than they are in a whole-class arrangement. group work has many of the same advantages. it is mathematically attractive if noting else; the moment students get into pairs and start working on a problem or talking about some

16、thing ,many more of them will be doing the activity than if the teacher was working with the whole class, where only one student talks at a time. group work also give the students chances for greater independence. because they are working together without the teacher controlling every move, they tak

17、e some of their own learning decisions, they decide what language to use to complete a certain task, and they can work without the pressure of the whole class listening to what they are doing. decision are cooperatively arrived at, responsiblities are shared.the other great advantage of group work i

18、s that they give the teacher the opportunity to work with individual students. while groups a and c are doing one task, the teacher can spend some time with groups b who need special attention.but there are some problems. because with separate table seating ,students may not like the people they are

19、 grouped or paired with .in any one group or pair ,one student may dominate while or the others stay silent. in difficult classes, group work may encourage students to be more disruptive tan they would be in a whole-class setting, and especially in a class where students share the same first languag

20、e, they may revert to their first language, rather than english ,when then teacher is not working with them.apart from groupwork,students can be oranganized in different ways:they can work as a whole class,in pairs or individually.how much teachers use groupwork pairwork or solowork depends to a lar

21、ge extent on teacher style and student proferences.do the students actually enjoy pairwork?what do they get out of it?do the advantages of groupwork-cooperation involvement ,autonomy-outweight the advantages of whole-class groupong-charity dramatic potential,teacher control?do the students work cons

22、cientiously during soloworksessions? good teachers are able to use different class grouping for different activities.while they do this,they will monitor which is more effective. whole class: as we have seen, there are many occasions when a teacher working with the class as a whole is the best type

23、of classroom organization, however, this does not always mean the class sitting in orderly rows; whatever the seating arrangement, the teacher can have the students focus on him or her and the task in hand.students can be organized in different ways: they can work as a whole class, in groups, in pai

24、rs, or individually. group work and pair work: these have become increasingly popular in language teaching since they are seen to have many advantages.solowork this can have many advantages:it allows studentsto work at their own speed,allows them thinking time allows them inshort tobe individuals.it

25、 often provides welcome relief from the group centred nature of much language teaching.for the time that solowork takes place,students canrelax their public faces and go back to considering their own individual needs and progress. how to use body language in the classa:good moring everyone. this is

36、tudents are shamed to speak, some are made mistakes when speak, some are pronounced bad. at this time, teacher should even more encourage them like their mother. “dont worry, try again. youll be the best.”if i said “no” or “sit down”, it must break their passion of english studying. during my career

37、 i met a child who was performed an operation on his lip, so it is not clearly when he speaking english. he was shamed to speak when in the class, because he was afraid other students will laugh at him. for this reason, every time, after he answered a question, i always said “very good” to him loudl

38、y. after several times his confidence was strengthen and he tried to answer questions actively. a “no” or a “its wrong” of you may destroy a good translator. for all above, teacher shall lead childrens first english studying with mothers love, help them to establish confidence, arouse their interest

39、 of english studying.二、be a good actorif in english class of primary school, the teacher is the leader and students just a listener as its in junior and senior school, the way of teaching only include students read follow the teacher, then read in collectivity, in groups and in person. it can destro

40、y the interest of studying of students at all. “interest is the best teacher”, no interest no desire for studying, and the effect of it can not be too good. so the english teacher in primary school should be a actor, and use their acting (e.g. kinds of body language) to cooperate with oral language.

41、 such as some directive language: stand up、sit down、come、open your book、one by one and so on, you can cooperate with gesticulations. another example, some words for praise and encourage, you can use different kinds of expression not only the gesticulations e.g. ok gesticulation with smile, very good

42、 nod with smile, great show your thumb and praise, try your best make a fist and drop-down etc.三、be a intimate friendenglish books are very interesting and full of characteristics of children, like lets play、lets do、lets chant、lets sing etc. the teacher should be friend of students, you should sing

43、with them, play with them as a person with the same age of them. when performance a dialogues, teacher can play with students as a role. in part lets sing teacher always singing and playing together with students, as time passes, the children will make the teacher as a friend of them, its good for t

44、eaching.anyway, english is not only a science but also a kind of act, it needs teacher research constantly and play as kinds of roles well, then you can be a good teacher the students loved.how to make my class active and interactive actually , when i stepped to the 3-foot platform to be an english

45、teacher , i tried my best to make my students practice the patterns time after time , i hoped that they would get high marks in test .however , my students didnt care about it , they showed less attention to m class. until one day, a student had a talk with me. he said : ”im learning many things tha

46、tare boring, useless and not valuable. so im tired of studying. miss ma , can you understanme? ”at that time, i felt my class was lack ofactive and interactive patterns.then igradually found that make class active and interactive is from active learning to interactive teaching.first , we should be e

47、nergetic and encouraging .because our passion can make class want to learn english, they will act with nature and show more potential abilities. also,we should praise in various ways. in our class we often say “good, very good”, the simple word not only make them active in class,but also foster thei

48、r sense of achievement in future learing.secondly, we should make classmeaningful and creative. in class, we can use the short and simple sentence, use the body language to communicate with students .we should give students clear purpose and offer them opportunities to try, to create and allow them

49、to fail. make sure the class relaxing and interactive, be familiar to the feeling of english language.coming up next is organizing games and activities.you know, activity is the key part of class. including paired work, competitions, role play, guessing game, tpr activities, and so on. whatever i us

50、e , i should often change the way. from students and i; student and student ;to students and students. make all class.the last but not the least ishelping the class feel comfortable with asking me questions and answering my questions. to do this, do not criticize any questions from students .this wi

51、ll insure that students will continue to ask questions. do give more chance to students ask and answer , make students and ourselves learninteractively. so after class students can listen, read, write, think without force and pressure, keeping interests and motivation .this is my talk from my experi

53、ies! but speaking a good english doesnt mean u could do everything u like ,coz its just a kinda of communication tool!just a tool not a special kind of skill !teachering is learningmost of us here are teachers, and i believe we all want to be good teachers. but how does it come? i think several qual

54、ities are definitely necessary: academic knowledge, the understanding of children, and the techniques and methods for teaching. as the saying goes: there is no the best, but only the better. for our teachers, it means we should keep going on our job, improve our own abilities and skills of teaching.

55、 we do have a lot of ways to improve ourselves, but no matter what kind of progress we make, we get them through the same way, that is-learning. i appreciate every opportunity that i can learn. from the textbooks, from the other teachers, from the students, even from every class i hold. this way mig

56、ht be hard but with pleasure.how to teach students to learn at homenglish is one of the most subjects in school. almost of students know they should learn english well, but few of them know how to learn it well. karl mark has set a good example for us. he once said , when one is learning a foreign l

57、anguage, he must use the languages .”in this way , he could use several languages. a saying goes, ”practice makes perfect.”when students learn english by themselves at home , they should read more , speak more, listen to english from time to time and practice writing every day. dont be afraid of mak
