9、ounderstandthechangesinsoilhydrologicalresponseandsoilmoisturedynamics,andtodeterminewhetherthinningmanagementcaneffectivelyimprovethestateofsoilmoistureinthesubalpinePiceacrassifoliaplantationsintheQilianMountains.Third,theresearchpurposeandtheresultwerealsodifferent:Themainlypurposeofthe“previousa

10、rticleWastopreliminaryexplorethethinningontheplantationforestsoilmoisture,andtheyfoundthattheintermediatethinningcansignificantlyincreasesoilmoisturecontentatthedepthof60cm.However,theydidn'tpointoutthatwhichorwhatthethinningintensityorplantationdensitycanbebenefittosustainabilityofplantedforest

11、sinthesewater-limitedregions.Inthisstudy,notonlywedidconfirmedthattheintermediatethinningcansignificantlyincreasesoilmoisturecontentatthedeepsoillayer,butwealsofoundthathighplantingdensitywasthemaincauseofseveresoilmoisturedeficitsinthelong-term,anditcouldbemitigatedby20-40%thinning(3139treesha-1).I

12、naddition,byinvestigatingtheeffectofthinningonthesoilhydrologicalresponse,wefoundthatsoilhydrologicalresponsemaybetemporarilymodifiedbythinningaccordingtochangesincanopystructure,precipitationproperties,andantecedentsoilmoistureconditions.Soilmoistureinnaturalforestrapidlyinfiltratedintodeepsoil,whi

13、chgreatlyimprovedtheefficiencyofprecipitationuse.Thinningsignificantlyincreasedthecapacityforsoilinfiltration,andmoderatethinningintensitymaybeconducivetodeepsoil-waterrecharge.Further,accordingtotheglobalcirculationpredictionmodelsandtrendanalysisresultsandweatherpatterns,deepVSWCmayincreaseifpreci
