17、rnet” computer somewhere in America. Later on, when Mike turned on his computer in Australia, his computer dialed a phone number connecting him to that same main “Internet” computer in America. The computer sent Mike all the letters that had been written to him by people all over the world. Mike was

18、 pleasantly surprised to receive a letter from Emily. He immediately wrote Emily a letter back. Within only a few hours,Emily and Mike were able to communicate with each other and get responses. “It is not as fast as making a phone call, but it is much cheaper,” Emily said to her father.
