Languagesnaturallychangeascommunitiesgrowmoreisolatedfromeachother,theresearchersnoteinthepaper.Thelongisolationofacommunitycouldleadtoenoughdifferencesinlanguagetomakeitimpossibleforcommunitymembersbackhometounderstand.“Ifyou’reonthisspaceshipfor10generations,newconceptsandsocialissueswillemerge,andpeoplewillcreatewaysoftalkingaboutthem,”McKenziesaidinastatement.Suchvocabularywouldbecomespecifictoonlythatspaceship.
