2、hissonofapatentattorneyhadfiledapatentapplicationforamotorvehiclein1879.Hewasgrantedthepatentin1895withouteverhavingbuiltanautomobile.SeldenbombardedAmericancarmanufacturerswithdemandsforlicensefees.Itwasnotuntil1911,followingprotractedlitigation,thatHenryFordsucceededinoverturningthemysteriousSelde
3、npatent.Today,mostAmericansbelievethatHenryFordinventedthecar.InAustria:evenhighlyrespectedhistoriansbelievedforalongtimethattheVienneseSiegfriedMarcus(1831-1890)builtthefirstcarin1865whenhefittedastationaryenginetoacartandtookitfora200metertestrun.InFrance:ThewidelyheldFrenchviewisthatitwasCountdeD
