global 50 of,human resource service providers 2010,summary foster the driving force for growth: reform and transformation,2009, the year of lost global economy encountered sudden and comprehensive change at the end of 2008. while people are discussing how long this change will be and to what extent it will impact on, global hr industry was severely battered. 38 out of the “global 50 of human resource service providers 2010” suered a downward spiral. due to the plunge, randstad (drop by 11.67%) which suered small loss replaced manpower (drop by 25.53%). the situation of adecco which remains the rst is still bleak. in 2009, annual operation income dropped by 25.89% year-on-year. furthermore, annual nancial statement of “global 50 of human resource service providers 2010” shows that a half of the companies suered loss in 2009 and the other six companies were at the verge of collapse with only 1% prot. poor performance of “global 50 of human resource service providers 2010” resulted in evaporation of billions of us$ of market capital in 2009.,01,but, the nancial statement also shows that the worse time has past. with the global recovery, these companies started to recover in quarter 3 and 4 in 2009. according to data analysis, we found that industries suered most from the global economic crisis are mainly job hunters and talent relocation. the root cause is that companies cut hands worldwide and no new recruitment in 2008-2009. even up till now, the unemployment rate in usa and europe has not been recovered yet. thus, the future of these companies is still gloomy. the economic crisis has less impact on hr software, outsourcing and consulting industries. many hr software companies experienced 15% growth in income. but few companies made prot. the performance of hr consulting industry is stable. although companies suered loss, companies like hewitt, mercer, towers watson, and aon consulting saw a drop within 10%.,for the online stang industry, two usa listed companies, monster and dice holdings saw a surprisingly 32.63% and 29.04% drop respectively in income. comparing speaking, 51job in china only saw a 5.15%. yet seek limited, an australia company, only saw a mere 0.81%. this is because of the fact that australia economy beneted from chinas economic stimulus policy and suered less in the economic crisis and is the rst and fastest to recover. therefore, the job market further helps companies to walk out of the crisis. besides, the loss of seek limited in 2009 is also attributable to the loss o f z. in 2009 scal year, the investment loss of seek limited in z was 20.75m yuan. now seek limited has 56.1% share of the z, which means z saw a 92.8m yuan loss in after tax income in 2009. the company has suered loss for three years in a row , with more than 150m yuan loss in last year. job hunter industry failed. except for harvey nash group,11 companies on the ranking are all in recession and most of which saw a 15% plus drop in operation income. the most severe one is hudson (-35.95%) chinese companies, the spotlight chinese economy outperforms others in the global economic crisis. just as what chinese economy did, companies on the ranking of “global 50 of human resource service providers 2010” performs outstandingly. in the past, europe and american companies dominate the hr industry. but now a multi-polar world is drawing near. most of the chinese companies on the ranking grow strongly and gain prot. thanks to the 26.41% growth, ata ranks the rst in terms of fastest growing company in talent management worldwide. 104 job bank ranks rst in the online stang industry with a growth of 5,12% and is the only online stang company that made prot in 2009 scal year worldwide. ciic with 18.6% growth is the fastest growing company in hr outsourcing industry. while talking about large scale hr companies with 1b annual income, ciic ranks the rst in terms of the growth rate and rank in the top 10 out of the “global 50 of human resource service providers 2010” which is an epoch-making case. we are proud of what chinese companies have achieved. it is china, the fastest growing market in the world and the ever-improving competitiveness that chinese companies surge against the recession. we also noticed that chinese companies like ciic has tapped into global market, such as japan, australia, and canada, etc and has become a multinational company and has been building its global competitiveness. ata acquired the toeic of ets in china, which is famous for the well- known toeic, toefl and gre. this further demonstrates the power and inuence of chinese companies on this industry. although started late, chinese hr companies have obviously,02,narrowed the gap of performance with world-leading companies in this industry. many chinese companies are climbing up the value chain quickly, engaging with many links of the value chain and making eorts to improve the quality of product and service to be more attractive. they are building various competencies that are needed to adapt to the fast development,including investing in innovation, listening to clients, valuing ipr, establishing talent- oriented organizations so as to lay solid foundation for sustainable and high-return growth. we believe that there will be more chinese companies in the” top 50 global hr institutions” and they will have a pivotal role in the global hr industry. tide over the complex environment for the future the recession of the nancial industry at the early of 2008 and the following global economic crisis are unprecedented in modern history. although most of the countries are recovering, the global economy is still full of uncertainties. the recent sovereign-debt crisis in europe is a case in point. economists are projecting whether the economy can fully recover or will face stagnation, further drop or w-shape recovery. no matter which is right, one thins is clear: in the face of complicated business environment and more and more uncertainties, all the companies encountered globalization, ercer competition, faster technology evolvement, more and more date and swiftly changing customers preferences. just as nicholas taleb wrote in the black swan that globalization and its ensuing networking resulted in chain vulnerability, global economy and other industries will have more inuence on hr industry. economic crisis led to more mergers and acquisitions and facilitated the change of business models. since last year, we have seen many successful cases, such as the mergers and acquisitions of watson wyatt and towers perrin with the new name as towers watson which is the largest m&a case in hr industry, pe investor hgcapital acquired stepstone, and adp acquired shanghai huaye. with the fast development of global hr industry and globalization, we are expecting to see more and more m&a cases in coming one to two years. the rst half of 2010 is drawing to an end. we are glad to see that most of the listed companies perform well. the economic crisis is fading away. outstanding performance and sustainable growth best showcase the power of these companies. with the recovery of the global economy, we believe that more companies will enjoy growth in 2010 and more companies on the ranking of “global 50 of human resource service providers” will have better nancial
