Countries depend on each other and no one nation can be independent of the globalization architecture. There is no doubt that globalization tightly connects the world with us in political , economic , cultural field and so on. It brings not only wealth, the greater its charm lies in the mutual language, culture and other aspects of the infiltration and integration. But except the benefits and good effects the globalization makes , there are so many risks and hidden dangers. In the background of the globalization , a imperceptible problem is our culture has been challenged, especially the traditional culture. Globalization show us the different cultures which are gradually penetrating into the minds of people. It has a great influence on societies , families and individuals. Speaking of family, Chinese people have their own the traditional notion about it. Whether globalization will change the notion? This is my theme. China is a country with 5000 years of civilization, accumulating many great cultures and spreading many nice manners and customs. And these contain the traditional notion of Chinese family, whose stable spreading plays a large role in maintaining social stability in the ancient and modern China. Our traditional notion about family generally refers to the idea of attaching importance to family atmosphere like respecting the old and cherishing the young and maintaining marital peace and others. Chinese people is conservative , not seeking personality actually and in their eyes, families are much higher than themselves. On the contrary, western people pay attention to the individualism. Their subjective consciousness are strong. With the rapid development of globalization, Chinese economic strength is growing increasingly, the political system is improved, and the culture is more and more diverse. As a result, our traditional notion about family has been changed.I. The extended family and the nuclear family The globalization enhances the Chinese economy which is considered as the most important factor to change the traditional notion of family. Because there is a saying that economic base determines the superstructure. Long before, on account of the poor means of production , people need to cooperate with others under the leadership of the patriarch to have the orderly life. Nowadays , people are more inclined to have a nuclear family, enjoying the atmosphere of freedom and democracy. And the extended family is reducing gradually.II .The attitudes towards love and marriage First , love becomes the base of marriage. The phenomenon of arranging the marriage by parents is on the decrease. Globalization frees our mind, and free love becomes the precondition to get married instead of the economic contract. Second , the family pattern has been changed. In traditional family , men have the responsibility to earn money to support their family, and as housewives , women need to cook and look after children . With the development of society, women get a better education,and their minds are liberated. They demand more freedom and independence . In fact , womens status has been improving constantly. Therefore , there are many different family patterns appearing . Many women are elder unmarried and choose to uphold celibacy , but enjoy their lives . In addition, the concept of procreation has been abandoned by many couples. They have rights to refuse to give birth to a child and choose the life they want . This kind of family is called DINK . Besides , homosexuality is understood and accepted gradually by Chinese people. We see the foreign films and know the foreign laws about this problem . Although the homosexual behavior is still illegal, many homosexual persons have the courage to live in their way. Third , excessive egoism makes people not respect marriage. Less marriage and more divorce warn us to think about whether this kind of egoism suits Chinese reality. III . Family education Today , in many families, the notion of preferring boys to girls is weakening. So children have equal opportunities for education. Many parents hope their children to be independent and give them chances to receive western-style education but ignore the Chinese traditional education. These children do not know the importance of family, even do some annoying things , such as abandon and abuse the old men. This is not the kind of percentages we are looking for. Under the influence of globalization, it is necessary to change the traditional notion about family . But our traditional idea is deep-rooted, which cannot be overthrown . As a country on the rise, although China adapts the developing trend of globalization, it does not give up its traditional views.
