(citizens of the realms can bow or curtsy but non-citizens are not required to do so. for citizens this protocol is a mark of respect towards a branch of government that represents them; they are not forced to bow or curtsy, but they are expected to be polite! ) one must never show ones back and face her at all times. never speak unless spoken to. if one is wearing gloves or sunglasses they are to remove them immediately. if her majesty offers her hand one is to shake it. her majesty will let one know when the conversation or meeting is over. leave promptly, making sure one remains facing her majesty, bow or curtsy, and then exit. the queen is first addressed as “your majesty,“ then thereafter as “maam.“ workers bow or curtsy first time in the morning and once before the royals retire for the evening. family members do the same. philip is not asked to bow to his wife unless it is for ceremonial purposes, part of a formal ceremony. he did so during the coronation , for example. protocol in her presence is good manners. it is very important, as it could be interpreted as a sign of disrespect to break protocol. royal protocol buckingham palace windsor castle is a medieval castle and royal residence in windsor in the english county of berkshire, notable for its long association with the british royal family and for its architecture. balmoral castle a large estate house in scotland. balmoral has been one of the residences of the british royal family since 1852, when it was purchased by queen victoria and her consort, prince albert. it remains the private property of the monarch, and is not part of the crown estate. the royal standard of the uk is the flag used by elizabeth ii in her capacity as sovereign(君主) of the united kingdom and its overseas territories. the royal family are portrayed as the examples of well manners and behaviors. to some degrees, they are the civil idols, perfect models to follow. political system in uk constitutional monarchy is a form of government in which a monarch acts as head of state within the parameters of a constitution. this form of government differs from absolute monarchy in which an absolute monarch serves as the source of power in the state and is not legally bound by any constitution and has the powers to regulate his or her respective government. the united kingdom is a constitutional monarchy, that is to say it has a monarch (a king or a queen) as its head of state. nevertheless, the monarch has very little power and reigns with the support of parliament. princess diana (1961-1997) diana spencer, princess of wales, was the first wife of charles, prince of wales, whom she married on 29 july 1981. her wedding to charles, heir to the british throne and those of the 16 commonwealth realms, was held at st pauls cathedral and seen by a global television audience of over 750 million. the marriage produced two sons, the princes william and harry, currently second and third in line to the throne. the marriage gradually broke down;
