Guide Book for SBC students to apply for UK Postgraduate Programmes SBC学生英国研究生申请手册Version 1第一版Oct 2010英国硕士课程申请流程UK Postgraduate Application ProcessI. 前期准备 （10月-12月）Preparation (Oct-Dec)Step 1. 选择专业 Choice of courseStep 2. 选择院校 Choice of University结合下列因素，进行考虑学校的综合排名以及专业排名；学校该专业的具体课程设置；对学校的录取要求和自身专业课成绩以及IELTS成绩进行比较；学校的学费和当地的生活费；学校的地理位置。然后选择5-8所学校为自己的目标大学，学校的排名和录取要求要有差异，这样才可以分散风险，保证自己能至少拿到其中几所大学的录取。Choices will be made based on the following criteria University overall and individual Degree course rankings, detailed course structures, entry requirements and students own grades, tuition and living costs and university locations. Students should select 5-8 target universities with different rankings and entry requirements to increase chances of acceptance and avoid the risk of not obtaining a placement.*NCUK 9所成员大学的相关信息请参见SBC合作大学研究生申请信息Please refer to the Information of SBC Partner Universities for Postgraduate applicantsStep 3. 办理护照及信用卡 Passport and Credit Card到出入境管理局办理需要2周的时间，有护照的同学查看一下护照的有效期，至少要有两年的有效期）The Exit-Entry Administration Bureau usually takes 2 weeks to issue a passport. Students who already have a passport should make sure the expiry date is not within 2 years.另外，建议办一张中国银行的英镑信用卡，用于支付网上申请费用，以及之后的学费定金，住宿费定金 （办信用卡需要3周左右的时间）It is recommended that students should have a credit for online payments such as the deposit tuition and accommodation fees. This is the most efficient method of application.B: 填写书面的申请表格，邮寄申请（部分大学没有网上申请，在填写完书面的申请表格之后，和申请材料一起邮寄给大学。注意：有些大学各个学院都有自己不同的申请表）*下载的申请表格参见SBC合作大学研究生申请信息Please refer to the Information within the SBC Partner Universities for Postgraduate applicants for application form that can be downloaded.*部分大学需要支付申请费用Note: Some universities require application fees.Step 6. 收到学校的反馈Response from the universities得到接受或拒绝的结果。然后在得到有条件录取的学校中设定你的目标，并且要努力满足大学的录取要求。Students will receive a Conditional offer or Refusal letter. Students should review the Conditional offers received and make efforts to meet the conditions stipulated by their preferred choice universities. III. 获取无条件录取及签证准备工作 （5月-7月）Unconditional Acceptance and Visa PreparationStep 7. 担保金准备 Deposit for Visa purpose准备签证所需要的担保金，根据学校的学费和给出的生活费标准，存足够的资金在自己的名义下，要求定期3个月。（5月份完成）The Visa application process includes a 3-month time period to pay the deposit for one-year overseas tuition fees and living costs. The funds must be deposited into the applicants account by May.Step 8. 完成最终大学申请所需文件The final decision and University application 拿到自己的大四成绩，以及最终的IELTS成绩（如有）后，选择获得有条件录取的大学中的一所，作为自己要去的大学并提交以下材料，换取无条件录取。Students must choose one University and send their year four grades and IELTS report (if applicable), with the following documents for unconditional acceptance (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies).编号No.所需材料Doc.要 求Notes1本科学位证明Undergraduate Certificate and Degree上理工毕业证书USST Undergraduate Certificate学位证书中英文件 Undergraduate Degree and its translation(以上文件需翻译成英语Translation in English成员大学学位证书 Undergraduate Degree of the partner University2SBC成绩单Transcript使用学校信纸 paper with SBC letterhead中英文件 Chinese with English Translation学校盖章（8个学期成绩， 中英双方课程都必须罗列在内）Stamp of SBC (8 terms transcript, including all the subjects of China and UK courses)3英语能力证明English proficiencyIELTS考试证明-必须是有效的成绩单（IELTS成绩两年有效），申请研究生一般需要6.5及以上IELTS report within 2 years, 6.5 points or above will be required for general postgraduate courses4其他Others各类获奖证书 Awards资格证书 Qualifications实习证明等 Confirmation of Internships and etcStep 9. 申请大学的住宿 Accommodation ApplicationStep 10. 语言课程 Language Course如果语言没有达到要求，可以申请加读正式课程前的语言班Pre-sessional English Courses are available for Students who dont meet the levels of English required to start the UK Postgraduate course.注 Note: 1. 并不是所有大学都提供前期语言课程 Not all the universities provide a Pre-sessional English course.2. 获得无条件录取的同时，学校会发给申请人签证用的Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies，俗称CAS （部分大学需要支付学费定金），但如果因为语言没有达到要求，需要加读语言，需要学校出新的CAS，这个时候，你只能申请去英国读语言的签证，往往只有2个月的长度。在你通过了语言考核后，再重新申请正式课程的签证。Universities will issue the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS statement) and some universities will need the applicant to pay the tuition deposit prior to issuing the CAS statement. If the applicant does not meet the language requirements and is offered the Pre-sessional English course, the university will issue a CAS for English course only for the purpose of the applicants Visa. Usually duration of this Visa is only for 2 months. As long as the applicant passes the Pre-sessional English course, the applicant will get a Visa extension.IV. 签证及出行 （8月-9月）Visa application and departureStep 11. 准备工作Document Preparationl 预定机票(请预定从签证申请日期起至少3周后的机票) Booking flightsStudents should not book a flight that departs within three weeks from the date of submission of the Visa application.l 签证需要的材料 Documents required for the Visa Application1. 大学的录取函 Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) 并确认上面的信息正确无误 CAS statement with correct information2. 大学录取函上要求提供的材料 （包括毕业证书，学位证书，成绩单，雅思成绩单及其他），如在SBC完成大一和大二课程的必须提供NCUK办法的证书及成绩单。Documents mentioned on the CAS, such as Graduate Certificate, Degrees, Transcripts, IELTS Report etc. If the applicant has finished the first two years at SBC, then the NUCK International Diploma and NCUK International Foundation Year Certificates must be provided.3. 护照 Passport4. 照片 （近6个月内的，白底，尺寸为3.5cmX4.5cm）One photo (within 6 months, white background and size 3.5cmX4.5cm)5. 填写完整的英国签证表 （3份）Visa application forms downloaded and completed (VAF9, Appendix 8 and checklist)6. 担保金相对应的存单，存折Deposit Slip or Bank Pass Book7. 存款证明书 （存款存满一个月后，方可开具；开具日期不可早于签证日期前28天；冻结日期覆盖整个签证时期）Certificate of Deposit - The savings must be over one month so the certificate of deposit can be issued from the bank. The deposit frozen duration must cover the Visa application Duration.
