graphics, cryptography, text strings and audio processing, vector manipulation and matrix math, as well as more sophisticated primitives for construction of audio, video and speech codecs such as MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio, Layer 3), MPEG-4, H.263, JPEG, GSMAMR* and G723, plus computer vision. By supporting a variety of data types and layouts for each function and minimizing the number of data structures used, the Intel IPP library delivers a rich set of options for developers to choose from while designing and optimizing an application.The Intel Integrated Performance Primitives (Intel IPP) serves up a cross-platform, low-level software interface that abstracts multimedia and signal processing functionality from the processor underneath.This allows transparent use of recent Intel architecture enhancements such as MMX technology,Streaming SIMD Extensions, Streaming SIMD Extensions 2, and Intel XScale technology. Intel IPP is optimized for the broad range of Intel microprocessors: Intel Pentium 4 processor, the IntelItanium 2 processor, Intel Xeon() processors, and the Intel PCA application processors based onthe Intel XScale technology. With a single API across the range of architectures, ISVs can have platform compatibility and reduced cost of development. Using Intel IPP, you can simplify integration of basic functions and focus more of your time and efforts on building the value-add functionality that will differentiate your product in the market.Version 4.1 of Intel IPP introduces support for Intel Xeon() processors with Intel EM64T (separate installation package) as well as function expansion for audio, video, and speech coding. Intel IPP Version4.1 is available for the Windows* and Linux* operating systems. An extensive variety of encoder-decoder samples have been implemented using the Intel Integrated Performance Primitives functions to help demonstrate the use of Intel IPP and to help accelerate the development of your application, components and codecs. This sample code is provided under the terms and conditions as outlined in the license agreement found with the main Intel IPP 4.1 installation package. Switch to the appropriate directory for the Intel IPP package that you wish to install.2. Become the root user, needed to run the rpm command, and execute the install script in thedirectory where the tar file was extracted.3. The Intel software products already installed will be listed, followed by a menu of products to install.4. Select a package to install. Before the installation begins, you will be asked to enter a temporary directory in which the contents of the self-extracting installation file will be placed before actual installation begins. After installation, the files will still be located in this temp directory and must be deleted manually. All necessary packages needed to use the product will also be installed. The default RPM options -ivh -force are recommended to force the update of existing files.5. After installation, the packages installed will be redisplayed, followed by a redisplay of the install menu. Enter x to exit the install script.Intel IPP uses Macrovisions* FLEXlm* electronic licensing technology. License management should be transparent, but if you have any problems during installation, please make sure a current license file (*.lic) is located in the same directory as the install file.
