2019级研究生新生代表发言Dear professors, school faculty, fellow students, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,Good afternoon!I am WU Kai, a graduate of International Business School of Beijing Foreign Studies University and at the same time a first-year postgraduate student here. It is my privilege to stand here, representing all the postgraduatestudents of class 2019. In the past four years, I cannot remember clearly how many times I have ever stood on this stage in this hall, as so many wonderful memories just came into my mind.Four years ago, I embarked ona journey of infinite possibilities. Professional knowledge learning and colorful extracurricular activities made up my undergraduate life here. Myexperience of being vice chairman of the students union in IBS developed my problem-solvingcapabilities. A two-year volunteer experience at a public fund made me realize how important it is to make the society more harmonious. Participation and organization of business competitions strengthened my business awareness. And most importantly, learning of some core courses in my major like International Finance, Econometrics, and Financial Engineering guided me towards my academic interest, hence I chose to study for my Masters degree. All of these experiences made me who I am now, and illustrated deeply the meaning of the motto of BFSU, “Fully inclusive and equitable, learned to be”.International Business School is the most vigorous and diversified school at BFSU, it provides us with various opportunities and inclusive atmosphereto achieve all kinds of potentials. Students of IBS are excellingthroughout the whole world,working for famous companies, starting their own business, pursuing further studies, at home or abroad. And, there is also our humorous dean, doctor Niu, who everacted in a movie and alsospreads knowledge in a fascinating way in class.Ladies and gentlemen, facing the complicated and changeable world, what should we do and how can we become a responsible citizento make the world a better place? I do not have a clear answer. But I would like to quote three words from an outstanding and admirable alumna of BFSU, Ms. Zhang Youyun, in her commencement speechlast June. The first word is vision, vision for global awareness and international views. The second word is passion, passion to deal with all kinds of challenges we are face now and in future. The third word is profession, profession in academic research and pursuit for truth.Lastly, equally importantly, as a new postgraduate student, I hope that all of you will pay more attention to academic integrity, honesty and originality in research.Dear friends, a new journey has already unfolded in front of us.
