Introduction to the Change of Standard CodeAccording to the requirement of ZJJJBH 1998 No. 216 document of China State Bureau of Quality &Technical Supervision as well as GJG 1999 No. 126 reply of State Bureau of Machine Building Industry, the original standard code ZB T36 010-89 is changed as the industrial standard code QC/T 424-1999, with the content keeping the same temporarily. Please use the new standard code in reference.Specialized Standard of PRCTest Methods for Electrical Characteristic of Automobile Alternator ZB T36 010-891Subject Content and Applicable Scope This standard defines the test methods and general requirement for the electrical characteristics of automobile alternator (referred to as “generator” for short hereinafter). This standard applies to automobile alternator (whose cooling method is specified by the generator manufactory). 2Terms and Code2.1Test Voltage Ut (V)It is the specified voltage value when testing the output current. 2.2Cut-in Speed nA (r/min)It refers to the generator speed when the generator begins to output current for the first time; this speed depends on the pre-excitation power (input), speed change rate, battery voltage and residual flux density in rotor. 2.3Zero-amp Speed no (r/min)It is the speed when the generator voltage has reached the specified test voltage Ut but there is no current output. (In the current-speed characteristic curve I=f (n), the point meets the x-coordinate.2.4Minimum Application Speed nL (r/min)The standard specifies this speed is 1,500r/min, which equals to the generator speed when the engine is at idle speed.2.5Rated Speed nR (r/min)It is the speed when the generator outputs rated current IR. The speed is specified by the product standard. 2.6Minimum Application Current IL (A)It is the current output of generator under the test voltage Ut and with the speed nL=1,500r/min.2.7Rated Current IR (A) It is the minimum current output of the generator under the test voltage Ut and with the rated speed nR (the rated current value is specified by the generator manufactory, and shall be marked on the nameplate of generator).2.8Maximum Current Imax (A)It is the current output of generator under the test voltage Ut and with the maximum continuous speed nmax (the speed is specified by the generator manufactory). 3Electrical Characteristic Test3.1Current-Speed Characteristic3.1.1ObjectiveThe test is to obtain the relation between current and speed when the generator voltage remains at the test voltage Ut. 3.1.2Circuit and Requirement 3.1.2.1The circuit is shown in Figure 1 Approved by China Automobile Industry Union on March 10, 19891989-07-01ZB T36 010-89Outward excitation is possibleIntegral alternator or alternator with external regulatorCharge indicatorBatteryVoltmeterAmmeter Figure 1In the figure, R is a rheostat selected according to alternator.a.The voltmeter shall be directly connected to the output terminal of the generator.b.The applied lead wire shall conform to the following requirements: the resistance between the generator output terminal and battery “+” pole terminal shall not exceed 0.007; the resistance between the generator housing and battery “-” pole terminal shall not be more than 0.003; as the external regulator is adopted, the resistance between the grounding terminal of generator and generator housing shall not exceed 0.003, the total resistance of the remaining wire of regulator shall not exceed 0.005.3.1.2.2RequirementThe current-speed characteristics shall include the following five points.a.Cut-in Speed nAIncrease the generator speed gradually until the charge indicator indicates the charge begins, and then note down the speed.The rated value of the charge indicator will influence the cut-in speed. The rated value shall be 2W unless there is special requirement. b.Zero-amp Speed no (indirect measurement)Reduce the generator speed until the output current is between 5% of rated current and 2A, but no less than 2A, and note down the speed and current for the purpose of illustrated zero-amp speed. Extend the current-speed characteristic curve to meet the x-coordinate, and the speed of this meeting point is the zero-amp speed. The graphically epitaxial method shall be carried out after finishing the test items. c.Minimum Application Current ILAdjust the generator speed until nL=1,500r/min, and note down the output current. d.Rated Current IRAdjust the generator speed to the rated speed, and note down the output current.e.Maximum Current ImaxAdjust the generator speed to the maximum speed nmax specified by the generator manufactory, and note down the output current.3.1.3Test Conditionsa.The test shall be carried out at the room temperature of 235C, and the temperature deviation shall be noted down; the recorded temperature shall be the temperature before air intake, and the datum mark shall be 5cm away from the air inlet of generator. 2b.The rotation direction of generator shall conform to the specifications made by the generator manufactory. c.In the test wiring, the battery and one rheostat R connected with the battery in parallel shall be applied (see Figure 1).d.The lead-acid battery conforming to the nominal voltage and nominal capacity shall be applied during test, and the capacity value shall not be less than 50% of the rated current value, the capacity value is represented by Ah. The battery shall be charged fully. e.The precision values of the test meter are show in Table 1:Table 1ParameterVoltageCurrentTorqueSpeedPrecision0.5%0.5%2%1%f.The rheostat R shall be adjusted to keep the test voltage Ut stable during the whole course of test. g.The generator shall be equipped with voltage regulator during the generator test.In order to prevent the regulator from regulating, the teat shall be carried out at the following test voltage Ut:13.50.1Vapplicable for 12V system270.2Vapplicable for 24V system3.1.4Test Method3.1.4.1Hot TestThe following speeds shall be adopted in order during test, and the output current shall be recorded when the stator temperature at each speed becomes stable. Speed at 2A (about 1,000), 1,500, 2,000, 2,500, 3,000, 3,500, 4,000, 5,000, 6,000, 9,000, 12,000, or nmax (r/min).3.1.4.2Quick Test3.1.4.2.1Quick Hot Testa.Keep the generator under test run at the speed of 3,000r/min to rise its temperature for 30min with the maximum output current. In the process of temperature rise and test, the test voltage Ut shall be kept stable.b.After temperature rise, reduce the generator speed until the output current is between 5% of rated current IR and 2A, then start the test, and note down the current and speed.c.The following speeds shall be adopted in order at least during test:1,500, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, 6,000, 9,000, 12,000 or nmas (r/min).d.The test time shall not exceed 30s, and the speed change rate shall be kept stable.3.1.4.2.2Quick Cold Testa.The following speeds shall be adopted in order at least during test:Speed at 2A (about 1,000), 1,500, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, 6,000, 9,000, 12,000 or nmax (r/min). b.The test time shall not exceed 30s, and the speed change rate shall be kept stable.3.2Characteristic of Drive Power & Efficiency The drive power of generator shall be calculated through measuring the torque value from each test point specified in 3.1.4.1, and the efficiency shall be worked out, in order to educe two characteristic curves.3.3Regulator Function TestMake the generator operate at rated speed and rated current until the temperature rise of regulator keeps stable, then reduce the load current to 5A, and check the generator voltage, which shall not exceed the voltage value specified by the generator manufactory.Note: The voltage regulation value of regula
