1 / 20 优秀英语演讲稿 Good afternoon, everybody. I just want to say a few words about the landmark vote that the House of Representatives is poised to(随时准备着 ) take today - a vote that can bring us one step closer to making real the promise of quality, affordable(支付得起 ) health care for the American people. For the better part of a year now, members of the House and the Senate have been working diligently(勤奋地 ) and constructively to craft legislation that will benefit millions of American families and millions of American businesses who urgently need it. For the first time ever, theyve passed bills through every single committee responsible for reform. Theyve brought us closer than we have ever been to passing health insurance reform on behalf of the American people. Now is the time to finish the job. The bill that the House has produced will provide stability and security for Americans who have insurance; quality, 2 / 20 affordable options for those who dont; and lower costs for American families and American businesses. And as Ive insisted from the beginning, it is a bill that is fully paid for and will actually reduce our long-term federal deficit(赤字,不足 ). This bill is change that the American people urgently need. Dont just take my word for it. Consider the national groups whove come out in support of this bill on behalf of their members: The Consumers Union supports it because it will create - and I quote - a more secure, affordable health care system for the American people. The American Medical Association and the American Nurses Association support it on behalf of doctors and nurses and medical professionals who know firsthand whats broken in our current system, and who see what happens when their patients cant get the care they need because of insurance industry bureaucracies(官僚政治 ). 3 / 20 The National Farmers Union supports this bill because it will control costs for farmers and ranchers(牧场主 ), and address the unique challenges rural Americans face when it comes to receiving quality care. And the AARP supports it because it will achieve the goal for which the AARP has been fighting for decades - reducing the cost of health care, expanding coverage for Americas seniors, and strengthening Medicare for the long haul. Now, no bill can ever contain everything that everybody wants, or please every constituency(选区 ) and every district. Thats an impossible task. But what is possible, whats in our grasp right now is the chance to prevent a future where every day 14,000 Americans continue to lose their health insurance, and every year 18,000 Americans die because they dont have it; a future where crushing costs keep small businesses from succeeding and big businesses from competing in the global economy; a future where countless dreams are 4 / 20 deferred or scaled back because of a broken system we could have fixed when we had the chance. What we can do right now is choose a better future and pass a bill that brings us to the very cusp(尖头,尖端 ) of building what so many generations of Americans have sought to build - a better health care system for this country. Millions of Americans are watching right now. Their families and their businesses are counting on us. After all, this is why they sent us here, to finally confront the challenges that Washington had been putting off for decades - to make their lives better, to leave this country stronger than we found it. I just came from the Hill where I talked to the members of Congress there, and I reminded them that opportunities like this come around maybe once in a generation. Most public servants pass through their entire careers without a chance to make as important a difference in the lives of their constituents and the 5 / 20 life of this country. This is their moment, this is our moment, to live up to the trust that the American people have placed in us - even when its hard; especially when its hard. This is our moment to deliver. I urge members of Congress to rise to this moment. Answer the call of history, and vote yes for health insurance reform for America. 优秀英语演讲稿 (范文二 ) Globalization: Challenges and Opportunities for Chinas Younger Generation Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen: Today Im very happy to be here to share with you some of my thoughts on the topic of Globalization. And first of all, I would like to mention an event in our recent history. Thirty years ago, American President Richard 6 / 20 Nixon made an epoch-making visit to China, a country still isolated at that time. Premier Zhou Enlai said to him, Your handshake came over the vastest ocean in the world - twenty-five years of no communication. Ever since then, China and America have exchanged many handshakes of various kinds. The fundamental implication of this example is that the need and desire to communicate across differences in culture and ideology is not only felt by the two countries but by many other nations as well. As we can see today, environmentalists from different countries are making joint efforts to address the issue of global warming, economists are seeking solutions to financial crises that rage in a particular region but nonetheless cripple the worlds economy, and diplomats and politicians are getting together to discuss the issue of combating terrorism. Peace and prosperity has become a common goal that we are striving for all over the world. Underlying this mighty trend of globalization is the echo of E. M. Forsters words, Only connect! 7 / 20 With the IT revolution taking place, traditional boundaries of human society fall away. Our culture, politics, society and commerce are being sloshed into a large melting pot of humanity. In this interlinked world, there are no outsiders, for a disturbance in one place is likely to impact other parts of the globe. We have begun to realize that a world divided cannot endure. China is now actively integrating into the world. Our recent entry to the WTO is a good example. For decades, we have taken pride in being self-reliant, but now we realize the importance of participating in and contributing to a broader economic order. From the precarious role in the world arena to our present WTO membership, we have come a long way. But what does the way ahead look like? In some parts of the world people are demonstrating against globalization. Are they justified then, in criticizing the globalizing world? Instead of narrowing the gap between the rich and the poor, they say, globalization 8 / 20 enables developed nations to swallow the developing nations wealth in debts and interest. Globalization, they argue, should be about an earnest interest in every other nations economic health. We are reminded by Karl Marx that capital goes beyond national borders and eludes control from any other entity. This has become a reality. Multinational corporations are seeking the lowest cost, the largest market, and the most favorable policy. They are often powerful lobbyists in government decision-making, ruthless expansionists in the global market place and a devastating presence to local businesses. For China, still more challenges exist. How are we going to ensure a smooth transition from the planned economy to a market-based one? How to construct a legal system that is sound enough and broad enough to respond to the needs of a dynamic society? How to maintain our cultural identity in an increasingly homogeneous world? And how to define greatness in our rise as a peace-loving nation? Globalization entails questions 9 / 20 that concern us many young people my age in China, I want to see my country get prosperous and enjoying respect in the international community. But it seems to me that mere patriotism is not just enough. It is vitally important that we young people do more serious thinking and broaden our mind to bigger issues. And, there might never be easy answers to those issues such as globalization, but to take them on and give them honest thinking is the first step to be prepared for both opportunities and challenges coming our way. And this is also one of the thoughts that came to me while preparing this speech. Thank you. 优秀英语演讲稿 (范文三 ) It is human nature that all of us should be fond of beauty. Everybody was born with a heart for beauty. Today in China, with the rising of our living standard, peoples requirement of beauty has been heightened accordingly. Some people spare no money or energy on beautiful clothes, fashionable hair 10 / 20 styles, the decoration of their houses and even the improvement of their looks. But it seems to me,all these are more or less confined to the beauty in appearance,or rather, the outward beauty. In my opinion,we shouldnt only pay attention to beautiful appearance and neglect the beautification of the mind and what we are after should be the perfect unity of the outward beauty and the inner beauty. As we all know,so far as objects and animals are concerned, there is only beautiful appearance to be mentioned, but to us humanbeings, although the outward beauty really matters, the inner beauty is much more important. This was confirmed by a famous Russian writer in words much like this: A person is not lovely for being beautiful but beautiful for being lovely. Here, Id like to quote two typical instances and Im sure, my dear friends, from them youll find out what real beauty is. Recently I learned from the radio an unpleasant 11 / 20 incident about a well known singer. She is very charming with a sweet beautiful voice and very famous for singing the song.Devotion of Love. Not long ago,she was invited to Zhejiang Province to give performance. The moment she was to appear on the stage, she suddenly asked for more reward. Worse still, after her request was satisfied, she didnt begin to sing at once. Instead, she took her time to count all the money piece by piece. Thus she kept the audience waiting for half an hour. So when she at last showed up and started to sing Devotion of Love,a man rose up from his seat and shouted at her,You dont have any devotion of love. You are not qualified to sing this song ! Hearing this, the singer stopped singing and began to shout abuses with her finger pointed at the man. At this time the whole audience burst into an uproar. How disappointed her keen listeners were when they learned this! It is the singer herself who spoiled her beautiful image in the eyes of others. Now, Im coming to another true story. Its about 12 / 20 a poor, ordinary looking old woman. She was a widow without any children, living barely from hand to mouth by picking odds and ends from rubbish heaps. However, she took in more than ten homeless orphans successively and managed to bring them up. Every day she labored from morning till night. In order to earn as much money as possible to raise the children and to keep them in school, she even went to a hospital regularly to sell her blood. She got so weak for the loss of blood that she sometimes fell in a faint on her way home. When asked why she chose to burden herself with so many children, she smiled and simply answered,Oh,I love children and I like to have their company. Though the old woman was poor materially, she was full of affection and rich in spirit. She was loved dearly by her children. She was also highly appreciated by the local government, and truly respected by people in her community. 13 / 20 Maybe you cant help wondering, What makes that ordinary woman so extraordinary? It is nothing else but her inner beauty, her true devotion of love without any thought of rewarding. What a sharp contrast there is between the great woman and the selfish singer So,to answer the question What is real beauty?, I declare definitely,it is the beauty lying in ones heart of hearts and embodied in his actions and deeds, that is,the inner heauty! 优秀英语演讲稿 (范文四 ) A Scene to Remember Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen: Today I would like to begin with a story. There was once a physical therapist who traveled all the way from America to Africa to do a census about mountain gorillas. These gorillas are a main attraction to tourists from all over the world; this put them severely 14 / 20 under threat of poaching and being put into the zoo. She went there out of curiosity, but what she saw strengthened her determination to devote her whole life to fighting for those beautiful creatures. She witnessed a scene, a scene taking us to a place we never imaged weve ever been, where in the very depth of the African rainforest, surrounded by trees, flowers and butterflies, the mother gorillas cuddled their babies. Yes, thats a memorable scene in one of my favorite movies, called Gorillas in the Mist, based on a true story of Mrs. Diana Fossey, who spent most of her lifetime in Rwanda to protect the ecoenvironment there until the very end of her life. To me, the movie not only presents an unforgettable scene but also acts as a timeless reminder that we should not develop the tourist industry at the cost of our eco-environment. Today, we live in a world of prosperity but still threatened by so many new problems. On the one hand, 15 / 20 tourism, as one of the most promising industries in the1st century, provides people with the great opportunity to see everything there is to see and to go any place there is to go. It has become a lifestyle for some people, and has turned out to be the driving force in GDP growth. It has the magic to turn a backward town into a wonderland of prosperity. But on the other hand, many problems can occur - natural scenes arent natural anymore. Deforestation to heat lodges are devastating Nepal. Oil spills from tourist boats are polluting Antarctica. Tribal people are forsaking their native music and dress to listen to Uon Walkman and wear Nike and Reeboks. All these appalling facts have brought us to the realization that we can no longer stand by and do nothing, because the very thought of it has been eroding our resources. Encouragingly, the explosive growth of global travel has put tourism again in the spotlight, which is why the United Nations has made00the year of ecotourism, for the first time to bring to the worlds attention the benefits of tourism, but also its 16 / 20 capacity to destroy our ecoenvironment. Now every year, many local ecoenvironmental protection organizations are receiving donations - big notes, small notes or even coins - from housewives, plumbers, ambulance drivers, salesmen, teachers, children and invalids. Some of them cannot afford to send the money but they do. These are the ones who drive the cabs, who nurse in hospitals, who are suffering from ecological damage in their neighborhood. Why? Because they care. Because they still want their Mother Nature back. Because they know it still belongs to them. This kind of feeling that I have, ladies and gentlemen, is when it feels like it, smells like it, and looks like it , its all coming from a scene to be remembered, a scene to recall and to cherish. The other night, as I saw the moon linger over the land and before it was sent into the invisible, my mind was filled with songs. I found myself humming softly, not to the music, but to something else, 17 / 20 someplace else, a place remembered, a place untouched, a field of grass where no one seemed to have been except the deer. And all those unforgettable scenes strengthened the feeling that its time for us to do something, for our own and our coming generation. Once again, I have come to think of Mrs. Diana Fossey because it is with her spirit, passion, courage and strong sense of our ecoenvironment that we are taking our next step into the world. And no matter who we are, what we do and where we go, in our minds, theres always a scene to remember, a scene worth our effort to protect it and fight for it. Thank you very much. 优秀英语演讲稿 (范文五 ) 18 / 20 I am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. What is success? It is what everyone is longing for. Sometimes success would be rather simple. Winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is succes
