My Understanding and Harvest of Western Culture-with a view to Renaissance As we all know, the Renaissance is very important in the history of western world. Not only historian but also writer praise the things which were left that time, for the sculptureDavid by Michelangelo, the oil paintthe last supperby Da Vinci. Now, I have learned the course about the culture of western world, so I have a new review on, The Renaissance. Now, let me tell you what I think of, the Renaissance after I learned the course. The topic of the Renaissance is to preach humanistic spirit. In the long history of the medieval times, Christian theology preach the thought of abstinence .In their opinion, people need to limit their desire and believe in God, then they cant pursuit anything, including spite , sexual desire and so on. In a world people only can a pursuit spiritual need, thats to devote them to God so that they can go to lineage after they die. As Christian was the ruling power in the history of medieval times, people have no doubt about the theory of Christian. But a plague broke off in the fourteenth century. In the plague many people lost their life though they were faithful to God .As a result, people started to not believe in the God. Also they found the thought of abstinence was not so use to relieve their pain of the flesh .All of these support mass basis and Ideological basis for The Renaissance. The great people pay all of their focus to people disappointment at the thought of abstinence, so they created many works to preach their view to libber human nature and Advocate people to experience all human nature desire.Now, many people consider the Renaissance as such a very great event that we think all of the points it advocated are right. But now in my opinion, the some of points are certain to be ture; on the other hand some are too radical. Now let me tell you which parts I think are tight and which parts I think are wrong.As we know, though we are senior animal, we are still animal. Some desires are necessary for us, so its our right to pursuit the pleasure of the flesh. Also, human-being should be smart enough to support ourselves, and we can believe ourselves to create beautiful and happy life, instead of attributing our happiness to the God and wishing the God to let us have happy life. I think this point should be true anytime. There is no doubt that only we can create happy life for ourselves, and other people never can do these things for us. Sometimes other people can help us when we have difficulty in pursuit our dream in a way, but most things still need us to do. Other people only can have a supportive effect on us. As a result if we want to achieve success we should use our diligence, Industrious and courage to defeat the difficulties that block us to gain our target. As the great people thing out off think point many of their works are to praise the beauty of human-being, including body and wisdom, for example , the sculptureDavid by Michelangelo is to show the beauty of human-beings body . When we look at the sculpture, its certain for us to feel the power and strength David owe, and then we can associate with every people. Also when we look at the painting by Rafael, we can feel the love of woman, even though she is a Notre Dame. In other word, the God also have the side of love. So its normal for us, human-being, to love. All these points call on us to experience what human should take as pleasure and do what people can to create happiness for us. With the direction of the thought, more and more people began tobelieve themselves and lose their trust in theory of Christian, and they started to pursuit happiness and explore the world in their own way. So people who lived in that area achieved much success in other fields, too. Columns, Vasco da Gama who Open up the new route in the sea also were influenced by the spirit of humanistic spirit. Besides, much science progress can be owed to the spirit of humanistic spirit, for the spirit of humanistic spirit encourages the scientists to explore the world with a new and scientific view. So people abandon many wrong points that were put out by Christian. With the strive of scientists, much of new scientific phenomenon and nature law was discovery, such as Cape Towns three law, Law of free fall and so on . In a word, the humanistic spirit help human-being achieve lots of progress which contribute to the development of the history of human-being.But on the other hand, as the great people preached humanistic spirit too much, they ignored the limit to what people can do, which lead to some serious result. Some people indulged their desire too much that the basic morality was also breached. Now we can see many people do many thing that we cant stand. But at that time the great people didntconsider this thing , they think as long as people wanted to do they can do. So a serious thing was left. In my opinion, one of the reasons why western people do many things which we think are too cruel and cant be accepted by us is that when they were liberated from the shackle of Christian theology, they were too radical, and they abandoned the basic moral. But I can understand why they were so radical. During the long history of medieval times, people stood too much depression, and too much desire is depressed. Now they had a chance to meet all their need ,so its normal for them to forget the basic moral. However, many people only remember the positive effect the Renaissance has on the development of Europe and world history, and they ignore the negative influence the Renaissance has on
