The Introduction of The Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University The Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University (The Second Clinical Medical College of Shanxi Medical University, Shanxi Red Cross Hospital), founded in 1919, is the cradle of medical and health service in Shanxi Province. It is the medical education and service center for Shanxi Province, with a history of more than 90 years. The hospital is a first class hospital with medical service, education, research and health care. It is honored as one of the Baby Friendly Hospitals in Shanxi Province by the National Ministry of Public Health. It is also the only provincial Red Cross Hospital ,handling both domestic and oversea medical emergencies.The 1245-bed hospital has 84 clinical and administrative departments, 26 clinical education centers, 17 research institutes, 19 academic laboratories and an affiliated nursing school. The diagnosis facilities include GE gem 500 row dynamic CT, 16 slice spiral CT, the aduanced ECT, MRI system , Angiography, Gamma Knife, the excimer laser treatment machines, digital X-ray, DEXA, digital multi-function X-ray, alexandrite laser treatment instrument, flight mass spectrometry, laser scanning confocal microscope, artificial heart-lung machine, linear accelerator, intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation pump and other 435 advanced medical equipments. The Hospital has a total assets of ￥1.1 billion RMB.
