What is more, in Geography class, they have been familiar with great rivers so they are capable of talking about rivers in the world.Main Focus1. To practice students spoken English and active their geography knowledge about rivers.2.Enable students to grasp the main idea and comprehend specific information of the passage.Anticipated Learner Difficulty Students are not familiar with Mekong River, so it is necessary to introduce the river briefly.Overall Lesson Objectives 1. Students will be motivated and cooperate well2. To introduce the topic of Unit3. 2. To arouse students interest. Part 2: Interpretation and explanationWarming up (Discuss three questions)Timing 10 minutesProcedures First, if you had the chance to travel among these rivers, which river would you choose? And your reasons.Second, suppose you were already there, which kind of transport would you prefer? And your reasons.Last, what are the usages of river? Discuss in group of four.Aims1. Lead in.Timing 1 minute.Procedures Introduce a new river in the map-Mekong River.In China, it is called Lancang river. In southeastern Asia, it is called Mekong river. In the world, it is also called Danube of the east, do you know the reason?Now, lets travel in the new river together. My friend Wang kun also wants to travel there. Read paragraph 2 silently and analyze the character of Wang Kun and Wang Wei and supporting details.Analyze Paragraph 3. Read paragraph 3 and divide the river into several parts. After reading, invite a student to draw the landscape of Mekong river. And ask others to divide the river into three parts and describe its characteristics. For example, in first part, the river is clear and cold.AimsTo get the main ideas of each paragraph and understand the passage in a more vivid way.Part 3: Homework and ending words.
