学校简介吉林华桥外国语学院坐落在风景秀丽的长春净月潭旅游风景区。学校创办于1995年；2003年经教育部批准，成为我国第一所民办外语类本科院校；2004年学校全部专业进入吉林省第二批次招生；2005年获得学士学位授予权；同年，相继与吉林师范大学、东北师范大学联合培养硕士研究生；2007年经省政府批准，成为国内民办高校中唯一省级重点高校；2010年经国务院批准，成为全国唯一非营利性民办高校办学模式改革试点单位；2011年经省教育厅批准，在学校设立省内唯一的省级外语类应用型人才培养研究中心；经教育部批准，成为开展培养翻译硕士专业学位研究生试点工作单位。学校现有占地面积70.3万平方米、建筑面积20.8万平方米；固定资产总值60215.1万元，其中教学科研仪器设备总值3680.1万元；建有国内唯一的大型国际语言文化实践教学基地地球村，内设美国、德国、日本、俄罗斯、韩国等12个村；图书馆藏书120.1万册；全日制在校本科生7845人，外国留学生64人，与吉林师范大学和东北师范大学联合培养硕士研究生27人（已毕业35人）；专任教师456人，其中外籍专家50人，他们将先进的教育理念和生动活泼的教学方法融入华外；设有18个学院（系、部）及现代教育技术中心、中西文化研究中心、民办高等教育研究所、吉林省德语中心和东北亚语言文化中心（筹），有英语、翻译、日语、德语、法语、韩国语、俄语、西班牙语、意大利语、葡萄牙语、阿拉伯语、国际经济与贸易、金融学、经济学、工商管理、市场营销、电子商务、旅游管理、人力资源管理、会计学、对外汉语、汉语言文学、编辑出版学、教育学、商务英语等25个本科专业，涵盖文、经、管、教4大学科门类，其中语言类专业涵盖11个语种，是吉林省外语语种最全的应用型高级外语外事人才培养基地。学校秉承“一切为了学生成人、成才、成功，使华外成为中西文化合璧之桥梁，中华儿女走向世界之桥梁”的先进办学理念，始终坚持“公益性办学”，走“民”“特”“新”发展道路；坚持“培养具有社会责任意识和国际视野，基本功扎实，掌握一或两门专业，外语听说能力强，礼仪养成好，知识、能力、人格全面发展的应用型、复合型、外向型高级外语外事人才”的培养目标；坚持“外教主讲，小班授课，强化听说，综合培养”的教学模式；坚持“全员、全过程、全方位、全住宿”的教育管理模式， 引导学生“学会做人，学会学习，学会做事，学会与人相处，学会关心社会”。目前，毕业生已达11000余人，他们以“勤奋敬业、专业扎实、诚实守信”赢得了用人单位的普遍欢迎，近三年本科毕业生的就业率分别为96.4% 、97%和98.6%。现在，全校师生正朝着“到2020年，把学校建设成在国内具有一定影响力和特色的应用型民办外国语学院，进而创建国内同类高校一流、国际上有一定影响力的高水平民办外国语大学”的目标而努力奋斗。Brief Introduction to HuawaiJilin Huaqiao Foreign Languages Institute (Huawai) is located in the beautiful Changchun Jingyue Tourism Scenic Area. The Institute was founded in 1995. In 2003, under the approval of the State Ministry of Education, Huawai began to offer four-year undergraduate courses of foreign languages. In 2004, the school was authorized to recruit students from the 2nd round in all the specializations. In 2005 it was authorized to issue bachelors degree. Also in the same year it started a joint postgraduate program with Jilin Normal University and Northeast Normal University. And in 2007, approved by the Jilin Provincial Government, Huawai was designated as a key institution of higher learning in the Province, hence becoming the only key institution at the province level among the private institutions of higher learning in the country. In 2010, under the approval of the State Council, the school was designated as the only experimental site for school-running mode reform of non-profit private institution of higher education in the country.In 2011, under the approval of the Provincial Department of Education, the school set up the only research center at the provincial level for application-oriented talents of foreign languages; and under the approval of the State Ministry of Education, Huawai has become the experimental site for postgraduate programs of Translation & Interpretation. Huawai occupies a land area of 703 thousand square meters with the construction area of 208 thousand square meters. Its fixed assets are worth RMB 602.151 million, in which teaching and research equipments account for RMB 36.801 million. The school boasts of the only international language and culture practice teaching site called Global Village in the country, which has twelve individual villages including American, German, Japanese, Russian, and Korean village, etc. The school library has a collection of 1.2 million copies. Currently there are 7,749 full-time undergraduate students. The total number of teaching staff is 448 including 48 foreign teachers, who have brought to the school the advanced educational concepts and lively teaching methods. In Huawai, there are 18 faculties, a modern education technology center, a Chinese and Western culture research center, and a private higher education research institute. Jilin Province German Center and Northeast Asia Language and Culture Center are going to be established soon. The school offers 23 specializations including English, translation & interpretation, Japanese, German, French, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, international economics and trade, finance, economics, business administration, marketing, e-commerce, tourism management, human resources management, accounting, teaching Chinese as a foreign language, Chinese language and literature, editing and publishing science, and education, covering 10 languages and 4 disciplines of humanities, economics, management and pedagogy.
