Warm up:A. Read the picture book “The Giving Tree” to the students to motivate them.B. Ask students some questions.1. How do you feel after you listen to the story?2. What does the boy get from the tree?3. How does the tree feel when she gives the boy something?4. In your life, as the tree to the boy, who is as to you ? They just give but they dont want you to repay.5. What important holiday is in May?I. Warm up:II. Developing activity:一.A. Show the poem “MOTHER” with an OHP.B. Ask students to read and do some explanations.C. Play an association game.( 1 ) Divide the class into two groups and divide the blackboard into two parts.( 2 ) Write down “M” “O” “T” “H” “E” “R” on each part.( 3 ) Ask the students to use each of these letters to think of the words which are related to “Mom”. e.g.: “M”:MountainMom is as towering as a mountain. “O”:”Open”Moms heart is open to me.D. After the game, there are many words on the blackboard. Ask students to sort the words into three parts:adj(open, tender),verb(touch, move), noun(mountain, tears).二. Create a poem for Mom.A. Show students some expamples about the poems.eg. Mom (title)Hugging me (verb + object)Tender and warm (adj and adj)Like a gentle breeze (like + noun)If only she could be with me forever (If only she could.)B. Tell them the rule of the poem.C. Give each student a piece of paper.D. Let students think how to create a poem for Mom and answer the questions they asked.II. Presentation of the vocabulary:III. Wrap up一. Ask volunteers to read their works aloud.二. Ask students to make a Mothers Day card with this poem after the teacher correct their poems.三. Ask students to hand in their works next class.Class III. Ask students to listen to the reading on CD player.C. Discuss the housework Mom usually does.D. Show the flash cards of the words about housework. eg. “mop the floor”, “vacuum the floor”, “cook three meals”, “wash dishes”, “do the laundry”.E. Play the game “MIME” : Divide into two groups. Give each group ten pieces of paper with the words about housework on it. Which group can guess the most words in the limited time can win the game.III. Wrap upA. Ask students what they will do for their mom in Mothers Month (May).B. Make coupons for Mom.( 1 ) Give each students five coupons.( 2 ) Ask them to write a chore that they will do for their mom on each coupon.( 3 ) Ask students to bring coupons home and give them to their moms.( 4 ) Ask studetns to finish the chores before May 11 and each coupon must have their mothers signature on it.Class IIII.
