What club do you want to join?I want to join the music club.3.The use of the word “can”:It can be used to show the persons abilities.II.Teaching focuses:1.Try to understand the main teaching focuses:IYouHeSheItWeThey canIYouHeSheItWeThey cant2.Try to learn and use these sentences:What club do you want to join?What can you do?May I know your name?Can you help kids with swimming?III.Teaching methods:1.The main contents in this unit is surrounded by the topic “Joining the club”2.It specifically focuses on the use of “can” to show the abilities.IV. Teaching periods:This is the first periodV.Teaching procedures:Step1 Leading in1.Greeting.2.Ask, Can you speak English? Can you play basketball? Can you ?3.Then, ask: What can you do?Collect the answers from the students. And write them on the blackboard.Step2 Presentation1.Present the new words and phrases, using the pictures on the screen.play the guitar dance swim sing play chess paint speak English2.Get the students to look at the pictures again, and practice these new words and the phrases.3.Activity1a, ask; what can these people do? Match the word with the people.Step3 Listening practice1.Say: Open your books, and turn to page59. Look at Activity1b,and say:Listen and number the conversation (1-3)2.Play the tape and check the answers with the students.3.The right answers are: 2, 3, 1.Step4 Oral practice1.Use the pictures on the big screen. And get the students to talk about themselves.2.Use the word “can”. e.g. I can I cantStep5 Game11. Lets play the game Memory challenge.2.Show the pictures, and get the students to use the word “can / cant”.Step6 practice1.Show the pictures of Yao Ming, and practice the conversations.2.Pairswork. Talk about yourself.Step7 An education1.Look at the big screen, and read after the teacher.2.Students read aloud.3.The words are: I can sing, I can dance.but I cant play the guitar, I cant play chess. I can sing, I can dance.but I cant play the guitar, I cant play chess. But it doesnt matter(没有关系). If(假如)you want,you can do it, you can do everything.If you want, you can do it, you can do everything.Step8 Game21.Guess: Whats this? By showing the flashcards on the big screen.The students guess what the words and phrases are.2.Can you fill in the blanks. Show the exercises on the big screen.Step9 Listening practice1.Play an English song.2.Students try to find the words they learn today.3.Check the answers with the whole class.Step10 HomeworkInterview the family members and your friends, and write about what they can do and what they cant do in less than 50 words.Writing
