Portland State University signed an agreement in January 2007 with The Office of Chinese language Council International Hanban to establish this Confucius Institute in Portland and the 11th in the US Portland State s Confucius Institute is to promote educational exchange and cooperation between the US and the PRC jointly develop some academic exchange programs with its partner school Soochow University CI PSU has the status of a non degree granting entity that supports for community outreach and development of non degree China area studies and language programs including events and outreach in cooperation with other civic organizations as appropriate on Chinese language culture history politics economics sociology philosophy and allied areas of scholarship and interest short term courses in cultural awareness and Chinese language training programs for primary and secondary teachers in the greater Portland area organizing and hosting regional and international conferences hosting various types of Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi HSK YCT BCT Chinese Language Proficiency Tests organizing high school China summer camps and in conjunction with PSU s International Education Office developing and promoting curricula for study abroad programs in China The Institute is rapidly becoming an important window for the local community and the general public in the region to learn about 有两年多的时间 在这期间 通过积极创办和开展一系列与中国政治 经济 哲学 历史和语言文化相关的项目及活动 波州大孔子学院已迅速发展成为北美地区 中国文化的重要传播机构 这些面向当地美国民众与华人华侨的项目和活动主要包括汉语教 学 文化系列讲座 文化体验 每周中文角活动 大型国际会议 中小学中文教师培训 及 汉语桥 夏令营等 两年多来 这些文化普及活动深受当地民众的欢迎 成为拓宽和加深 中美两国人民和政府间相互了解和沟通的重要渠道 CI PSU 向成人 幼儿及中小学生开设无学分汉语课程 这些课程包括中文听 说 读 写 电脑辅助教学 新闻及电视汉语 中文故事及演讲技巧 初 中 高级中文会话 商务 及旅游汉语 中国书法及绘画 太极拳 HSK YCT 考前培训 中国文学高级班 读 写 等 截止到 2009 年夏季学期初 已参加孔子学院中文课的学生人数高达 100 多人 还有更多 的学生表示将继续参加孔院将来开设的课程 CI PSU 已赞助或联合赞助了近 150 项中国及中国文化相关的演讲和文化体验活动 如每 周的中文角及各项文化推广活动 吸引了数千民众前来参与 在全美 70 多所孔子学院孔子课 堂当中 CI PSU 是首所提供 HSK YCT BCT 汉语水平考试 少儿汉语考试 商务汉语考试 所有等级和类别考试的考点 截止到目前 CI PSU 已主持了 7 次汉语水平考试 参试人数达 近五百人次 年龄最大的考生 69 岁 最小的只有 6 岁 由三位 CI PSU 中文教师编写的孔院 两套汉语教材 中文快易通 上下册 Easy Express Chinese I II EEC 已于 2009 年 2 月由北 京大学出版社出版并在孔院投入使用 这本教材是专门为英语为母语的孔院学生编写的 由 波州大孔院教师编纂的汉语教材教材还包括 初级实用商务汉语 Basic Business Chinese BBC 已出版 目前已经脱稿 尚待出版并在波州大孔院试用的汉语教材有 电脑辅助 汉字教程 Computer Assisted Chinese Character Course 中国文学读本 Chinese Literature Reader 目前波州大孔院正在组织编写的教材还有小学生中国文化课本及针对沉浸式汉语项 目编写的课外读物等 两年来 CI PSU 向当地 幼儿及 中小学汉语教师提供了中文教学培训 有 60 多名教师 由此获得孔院颁发的研究生学分 超过 600 多名 次教师参加了孔院提供的各种专题培训课 程 如对外汉语 中文课程设计及的课件的设计与开发 汉语教学中科技手段的运用 中文 教材的开发 中文课堂管理 沉浸式汉语教学法 等 CI PSU 已联合主持了四届中文演讲比赛 2008 年 8 月 波特兰地区 13 名高中学生参加 了 汉语桥 夏令营活动 在中国进行了为期三周的语言和文化学习 2009 年夏 19 名学生 参加了在北京和河南为期两周的夏令营活动 2008 年 10 月 24 25 日 CI PSU 与中国清华大学合作 筹备并主办了国际翻译大会 该 会重点讨论三个议题 翻译研究 跨文化交流及中文教学法 60 余名来自不同国家和地区的 知名专家及学者参加了会议 2009 年 9 月 CI PSU 还主办了首届北美孔子学院汉语教学大 会 来自北美 33 家孔院 十几家教学研究机构的 80 余位代表参加了这届学术盛会 为庆祝 中华人民共和国成立 60 周年 波州大孔院还举办的一系列庆祝活动 包括中美建交 30 周年 图片展 中国汉字书画艺术展 中国专题系列讲座 汉语桥作文及演讲比赛 中国歌舞文艺 演出等系列活动 回顾近三年的发展历程 我们为孔子学院 已经取得的成就而自豪 同时也感到了肩负的 activities such as Chinese language programs China and Chinese culture related lecture series and Experiencing Chinese Culture events weekly Chinese Corner activities international conference K 12 Chinese language teachers training program Chinese bridge summer camp etc it is rapidly playing its role in diffusing Chinese culture in the region and engaging the American general pubic to China Chinese people Chinese history philosophy politics economics tradition in addition to Chinese culture and language thus broadening the network between the two countries and the peoples CI PSU offers non credit Chinese language to both adults and K 12 students These courses include Computer aided Chinese Listening Speaking Reading and Writing Chinese News Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition Chinese Bridge Composition and Speech Contests Chinese National Song and Dance Performance etc Looking back we are proud of what the CIPSU has achieved thus far looking forward we feel a heavy responsibility on our shoulder and feel a long way to go for our ultimate goal We are ready to embrace both opportunities and challenges ahead of us SUMMER K 12 CHINESE LANGUAGE TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM Every summer CI PSU sponsors the K 12 Chinese Teacher Training Program that offers graduate courses through PSU s Graduate School of Education These graduate credits can be used to count toward obtaining an Oregon teacher license through PSU s Teacher Licensing Program and the participating teachers are offered an opportunity to apply for a Master s Degree program in Teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages through PSU s partner Soochow University and other Hanban designated MA accredited universities in China 为满足当地中小学的需求和广大汉语教师的要求 波州大孔子波州大孔子
