Lead InAsk students to think about a city they know, answering these questions: What is it like? Is it big or small? Are there interesting things to do? Think of three things about the city. Think of something in the city that is important to you (a place you visit, a park you often go to, anything that is special to you). Do you like the city? Why? 2. Vocabulary & Language Points1) Get the students to read the new words & expressions of Unit 15 at page 100.2) Introduce some other useful expressions.What do you like about ?What do you like about living in ?Is there anything you dont like?Theres a lot to do there.Theres always something happening.3) Correct them if there are some pronunciation mistakes.3. Read what different people say about their hometowns.Ask the students to look at page 72, and check what they like and what they dislike about their hometowns. Then listen and check the answers.II. Listening Task (15 minutes)1. Look at the pictures of the First Listening, and talk about what looks interesting in these cities.2. Listen to the recording and choose what the speaker like about the city.3. Listen once more and ask the students to check which season each speaker talk about in the Second Listening.4. Listen for the third time and check whether the statements are true or false according to the audio in the Third Listening.III. Real World Listening (30 minutes)1. Concept checkWhat makes a city a good place to live?What do you like about your city? What do you dislike about your city?What would you miss if you moved away?2. Guess before listening1) Look at the pictures on page 74. Three students are talking about studying abroad. What do you think they will mention?2) Listen to the tape and check whether the guesses are correct.3. Get the main ideasListen again and try to get the main ideas by checking whether the statements are true or false.4. Oral PracticeGive a brief account of the three cities (New York, Brisbane and Edinburgh) on the basis of the given information.5. Respond to the ideas1) Put students in small groups and have them discuss which of the three cities they would like to go to. 2) Ask the students to discuss what they like about that city.3) Pay attention to their pronunciation.IV.
