Unit one How to be cool at collegeTeaching objectives: master the key words and sentence structures of text A and text B, understand why people choose to go to college and how to lead a rich full college life. Learners learn new words and common word combinations.Key Issues: useful expressions, sentence structure, discourse analysis, basic writing skills, reading skills, Main ideas of the text.Potential Problems and Difficulties: skim and scan, evidence- supported writing skills.Teaching Aids: Tape recorder, pictures, Mp4, computer, ect.Teaching procedures:Part I (Section A) 1.Greetings and brief self-introduction, then give a general introduction of the course and teaching plan.2.Lead in activityAfter short introduction of the topic, I will ask students to discuss these questions on page 3, “Whats your purpose of going to college?” “What does going to college mean to you?” I will ask students to discuss in pairs, and then ask several pairs to show their ideas to the whole class.3.Study of the new words.
