And theres a student reading an Englishtextbook.What do theirchoices say about them? Do youjudgethem by what they are reading?I have got to tell you that yourimpressionsof them are probably completely wrong. The woman reading the romantic novel could be a lawyer. She just wants alight read to take her mind offwork.The man reading the biography wants you to think that he is anintellectual, but he is justshowing off. The student reading the textbook isnt a student at all. Shes an English teacher.Publishersknow that some people areself-consciousabout what they read on public transport and so they put out differentversionsof acover. For example, books about Harry Potter have anoriginalcover for young readers and then another more serious version for adults.So next time you are on a train, look around and see what other people are reading, butdont jump to any conclusions.
