Unit 10 This is his body东升镇同乐小学 张海玲Today, I would like to share my teaching presentation with you. I am going to talk about the elementary English course, Friends with English Book 3, Unit 10 This is his body (Period 1). This book aims to stimulate students interest in learning English. According to the English Curriculum Standard, the main instructional purpose of teaching English in primary school is to cultivate childrens basic ability of using language.I. Contents in this periodAnalysis of the Teaching Material: This unit mainly deals with the vocabulary of our bodies. And it provides a real situation for the students to understand and practice the new words and the sentence patterns “ This is his / These are his ”.Students Analysis: The students in Grade 4 are very active, theyre full of curiosity about everything.II. Teaching Aims1. Aims on the knowledge To enable the students to listen ,read and understand the new words : eyes, nose, ears, mouth, arms, hands, legs and feet. To enable the students to describe the parts of our bodies in different situations.2. Aims on the abilities To develop the students abilities of listening and speaking. To train the students ability of working in pairs or groups. To foster students abilities of communication and their innovation.3. Aims on the emotions To protect our bodies and take good care of our bodies. III. Key points of this lesson1. To master the new words.2. To help students describe the parts of body with the new words and the sentence patterns.IV. Difficult points1. How to use the words and the sentence patterns in communication flexibly.2. How to distinguish the singular and the plural.V. Teaching methodsAs we know, language is used to perform certain communicative functions, and the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate students basic abilities of listening , speaking and their good sense of English. So in this lesson Ill mainly use “Task-based” teaching method. I will provide real situations for students to learn English and encourage them to finish a task by doing activities, so that they can get a better understanding of the new words and the sentence patterns. I will arrange six kinds of activities: singing, talking, listening, doing, watching, and drawing. And in this lesson CAI and some pictures, toys will be needed.VI. Learning methodsIn this lesson, have the students learn the new knowledge by using audio-visual method, RTPR. At the same time the students can also learn language points from others experience and their own knowledge. VII. Teaching procedures and purposes of my designingStepsPresentationsPurposesStep1Warm-up1.Greeting.2.Sing the song “Teddy bear”.It is important to form a better English learning surrounding for the students by singing and doing some total physical response. It can arouse students interesting in the class.Step 2Presentation and consol-idation1.Play a game to lead in: To present a teddy bear without eyes, nose, mouth, ears, ect. Students have to close their eyes and try to stick the missing parts. And here I will teach the sentence patterns “These are his , This is his”. And let the students find the differences between “These are ”and “ This is”.Most of the students are interested in games. They like learning English with games. Also, to learn the new words in such an active way is more easier for students to understand.The missing game can help students to consolidate the new words. 2. Present the new vocabulary:(CAI) To learn the new words in the sentence patterns.3.Missing game: look at the CAI and ask the students whats missing? 4.Pair work: Let students take out their toys and use “This is his / her These are his / her” to introduce their toys with their partners. To provide a real situation for students to practice what they had learned in this lessen, it can help students understand the words and sentence patterns well. 5.Exercise:Have the students fill in the blanks with the words they had learned in this lessen.To consolidate what they had learned in this lesson and emphasize the difficult points.Step3 Extension1.Chant: 小朋友起得早, 大家快来做做操,张开mouth深呼吸, 揉揉nose 吸吸气,手臂arms伸一伸, 小手hands拍一拍,腿儿legs踢一踢, 小脚feet跳一跳,眼睛eyes大又亮, 耳朵ears听得清, 天天锻炼身体好, 做个新世纪小主人。After such a long time of learning, students maybe feel tired. Here I use this chant to relax them. And it can help the students master the words better.2. Drawing: Let students draw eyes, nose, mouth ect. on some fruits or something else.Stimulate the students imagination by doingsomething theyreinteresting.Step4Sum-up and emotional teachingHelp the students sum up what we had learned in this class and tell them to take care of our bodies.Step5Homework1.Copy the new words.2. Draw a picture of a animal, and introduce the picture to your friends. VIII. Ref
