Id like to explain this part from following aspects. 1. Status and function of this passage:The fun of watching TV is the theme of Unit 6. This class is in the first section of this unit. Its arranged two lessons.The knowledge of this lesson is the integration of listening and speaking. The listening materials are designed in the form of making choices and underlining sentences. The underlining sentences have a close relation with speaking.The speaking materials are associated with the listening, which is regarded as the further part of the listening. In this part, students can put the useful expressions into practice. In order to practice students abilities of listening and speaking, I designed an intensive exercise of guessing name. Generally, their attention should be drawn to the expressions of asking about a movie and giving the possible responses. All of above can be used in their real life situation. 2. Analysis of the studentsThe students are in Grade 2, major in Mechanism. They have been familiar with this teaching material for a year. For students, because they are lack of listening skills, they feel the listening and speaking lesson is not so interesting. On the other hand, they are afraid of speaking in English. But they are pleased to talk in pairs or groups. So I should assign the tasks according to the levels of different students, which can help them to experience sense of success, build up their sense of confidence and inspire their interests.3. Teaching aims:Based on the analyses of the teaching material and the learning condition, I will put forward the teaching objectives, important points and difficult points.Knowledge objects: (1) Students will master some useful expressions about different types of movies. (2) Students will understand the dialogues.(3) Students will learn the useful sentence patterns to ask about a movieAbility objects:(1) Students can talk about different types of movies. (2) Students can practice listening skills, such as predicting and finding relative information. (3) Students can improve speaking ability and make dialogues in real life situations using the given sentence patterns.Moral objects:To develop students interest in discussing the topic of movies and help them find a way to make life colorful4. Key points and difficult points:Key points:(1) Make students understand the listening material.(2)Get students to make dialogues with the useful expressions in real life situations.Difficult Points: (1) How to get students to use listening skills properly.(2) How to arouse students interest in making dialogues. It is the teaching procedure. The teaching procedure is composed of nine steps.Step 1 Greeting (about 1 m)Greet the students as usual and inform the learning targets that they are asked to achieve during todays lesson.Purpose: Enable Ss to have a clear idea on the class.Step 2 Warm-up (about 8m)Activity1: free talkAsk students to enjoy a film clip and have a free talk. T: Did you watch this famous movie?S: T: How do you like it?S: T: Was it a sci-fi movie or war movie?S: Activity2: picture-talking Show some movie posters on the screen. Let students give their opinions about these pictures: Whats your favorite movie? Whats the type of each movie? Purpose: The Audio-visual teaching method is mainly used here to stimulate students enthusiasm of learning English and interest students. In addition, students will also get familiar with the topic and review some knowledge. Here the schema theory is adopted because students old knowledge store is activated. Step 3 Listening & Speaking A (about 36m)1. Pre-listening Activity: predictionAsk the students to guess: Where do Lily and Sandy see a movie? Why?Ask some students to share their ideas on where to see a movie.Example: If I were I would becausePurpose: Train Ss listening skills of predicting.2. While-listening Activity1: Play the tape for students to check their predictions and answer following questions:1. Where do they like to watch the movie?2. How does Lily think of the movie?Purpose: Train Ss listening skills of catching important information.Activity2: Learn some words and phrasesmake sense/ be aware of/ come over/be surePurpose: Make Ss understand dialogue better and learn some important phrases.Activity3: fill in the blanksPlay the tape again for students to fill in the blanks. If necessary, make some notes or write down the first letter of the word.Sandy wants to download a movie to watch this evening. And she thinks it would be a fun. However, she is not sure whats good. So she asks Lily about the movie Transform. Lily thinks the movie really rocked. But there will be an exam for Lily and Sandy tomorrow. So she doesnt want to come over and watch together.Purpose: 1. Consolidate the new phrases and understand the dialogue better. 2. Making notes or writing the first letter while doing intensive listening can help them get specific information.3. Post-listening Activity1: underline the sentences Ask students to read the listening material in activity 2 on P.91. Ask students to underline the sentences asking about the movies while reading.Key: Have you seen the movie Transformers? Have you seen it?Do you want to come over and watch together?Purpose: 1. Make students understand dialogue better.2. Make students master some sentence patterns and get ready for the next part.Activity2: introduce some expressionsAsk students to read the expressions for asking about a movie and their possible responses on P.92Asking about a movie: Have you seen the movie?What do you think of ?How do you like?Isnt it a wonderful?Do you think is very interesting?How do you like the acting?Possible responses: Yes, I have/ No, I havent. It is interesting/moving/boring.That movie is one of theIve ever seen. Yes, I think so./No, I dont like it at all. Its real fun to watchPurpose: to learn the sentence patterns for expression and get ready for the group work.Activity3: group workMake two students a group to complete the conversation in activity 4 on P.92.Ask some groups to share their answers with teacher to help correct their pronunciation and answers.(Student A asks, student B responses)Ask some groups to role-play with their partners.Purpose: 1. Pair work and group work are designed here to use these sentence patterns. 2. Correct pronunciation3. Get ready for the next partStep 5 Practice (about 8m)Activity1: complete the surveyAsk students to look at the movie poster on the screen. Discuss the questions in activity 3 on P. 93. Questions: Did you enjoy the movie or not? What did you like about the movie? What was the plot? How was the action? Are there any famous actors in the film?Rules: 1. Make two students a group. 2. Ask students to discuss the questions with partners. 3. Ask some groups to share their answers. 4. Correct the pronunciation and answers.Purpose: to develop Ss speaking ability and cooperative ability.Activity2: role-playMake two students a group and ask them to make a dialogue according to the model dialogue.Model: John: Hi, Lucy. Have you seen the movie Beauty and Beast?Lucy: No, I havent. Did you enjoy the movie or not?John: Its great! I enjoyed it very much.Lucy: Really? What did you like about it?John: I like its plot.Lucy: Why?John: Because ( give your own reasons) Lucy: Yes, I know. I think I will watch it some day.Purpose: The purpose of this activity is that students can use discussion learning method here. So their cooperative ability is improved here. And the sentence patterns can be practiced too. By creating the real situation for students, they can further develop their ability of talking about things in the real life. It can also help students relieve themselves after finishing the above tasks.Step 6 Listening & Speaking B (about 20m)1. Pre-listening Activity1: match Ask students to match the movie types with the definitions. And correct the answers together.Activity2: prediction Ask the students to go through the questions in activity 6 and 7 on P.93 and predict the answers.Purpose: 1. Help students to master the different types of movies2. Train Ss listening skills of predicting.2. While-listeningActivity1: Play the tape for students to finish activity 6 and 7 on P.93, and check their predictions.Purpose: Train Ss listening skills of catching information.Activity2: learn some useful phrasesAsk students to find the phrases and read out. go to the cinema/ once a month/ too many/ betweenand/ due to/ in spite ofPurpose: Make Ss understand the dialogue better and learn some important phrases.3. Post-listeningActivity: retelling Divide students into Group A and Group B. Ask Group A to retell Johns speech, and Group B to retell Nancys speech.Purpose: By repeating, students can get an overall understanding of the dialogue and they can imitate the pronunciation and intonation while repeating. Step 7 Extension (about 15m)Activity 1: find proper placeAsk students to place the movies name under the picture of the roles. Then read out the classic clips on the screen.Activity 2: guessing gameDivide other students into 2 groups to guess the name of the movie.(Choose two volunteers. Ask one of them to give clues, such as one of the actors name or the type of the movie. The other one role-play the sign action with classic clips in the movie.)Rules: 1. Divide students into two groups 2. Have group discussion3. Choose a leader in each group to finish first game 4. The winner will get 10 points 5. Choose two students in each group6. Ask one of them to give clues, the other guess 7. The winner will get 10 points8. The team gets higher points will get a giftPurpose: 1. Make Ss feel interesting and relaxed and activate Ss confidence.2. Help Ss to understand the clips in the further reading.Step 8 Self-evaluation (about 1m)Ask students to fill in the form.In Listening and Speaking of this unit, I have understood the listening material gotten to know different movies typesbeen able to ask about a movie and response(Teacher will have a conclusion about this lesson and use a film clip to build up students confidence and encourage students learning English well)Purpose: 1. Help Ss to summarize what they have learnt.2. Build up students confidence and encourage students learning English wellStep 9 Homework (about 1m)Individual work: Copy the new words and phrases.Preview the words and expressions in the part reading.Group work: Make a dialogue. (The school newspaper wants to make a survey. They want to make a movie chart to find which is the most popular movie. Make each line as a group. Each group has one group leader. After class, he or she asks the group members and takes notes. I will ask each group leader to make
