KraftPage: 2 of 3Standard Operating ProcedureSupersedes:6/20/0005/31/9605/23/97QS1.0PURPOSE:To establish methods for the issuance, distribution, and control of prints both within the Char-Broil organization and to vendors of purchased parts and tools.2.0 APPLICABILITY:The provisions of this procedure apply to the distribution and control of all engineering prints issued by Char-Broil.3.0REFERENCES:cp CP 4103, Document Controlcp CP 7100, Engineering Change Order (ECO) Procedure4.0 RESPONSIBILITIES:4.1 Product Engineering (PE) is responsible for the overall print program administration. This includes print preparation, revision, distribution and the ECO system. PE maintains the Product Data Management System, referred to as Windchill.4.2 Purchasing is responsible for the following:4.2.1 Send prints and any revisions to Char-Broil vendors.4.2.2 Maintain records of print change transmittals and acknowledgements. 5.0PRINT CONTROL: 5.1Product Engineering issues initial and revised prints using the ECO process.5.2 The official file for controlled two-dimensional (2D) hard copy prints is located in the Char-Broil Document Vault in Windchill. 5.3 5.3The official file for controlled telectronic print filehree-dimensional (3D) Pro-E electronic files is managed by IntraLink. A.MarketingCreative Svcs.15.4All departments have access to view prints through Windchill. 5.4.1 To access and view prints, double click the Windchill icon.5.4.2 When prompted with the log-in box, type in windchillview under user name and password. 5.4.3 The Windchill home page will be displayed, click on local search.5.4.4 At the pull down menu, arrow down to Char-Broil Document Vault and click on it. 5.4.5 Drawings are stored by drawing number. Double click on drawing number of choice.5.4.6 If searching for drawings by part number, click on Char-Broil Part while scrolling through the pull down menu. When in, double click on part number of choice to view print. 5.5 Controlled prints are only those viewed from the Windchill Vault. When printed from the system, prints are watermarked “Uncontrolled Copy” in all corners of the drawing (see section 6.0). 5.6 For situations when drawings must be printed for a hard copy, the date and time the drawing was printed will appear in the upper left corner of the print. The hard copy is considered a “Controlled Copy” for 24 hours following printing. After that time, the print becomes uncontrolled.5.7 For First Piece Approvals, the hard copy print included in the package is the revision the part was approved to. 6.0UNCONTROLLED COPIES:6.1Make uncontrolled copies of prints only when necessary. Uncontrolled copies are for short term, temporary use only (See section 7.0 for exception).6.2 When printed from the Char-Broil Document Vault, the watermark “Uncontrolled Copy” will appear in all corners of each drawing. 6.26.3Char-Broil will not verify product using an uncontrolled copy of a print.7.0PRINTS USED FOR PURCHASED PARTS7.1 If an ECO affects a purchased part and changes a print revision, Product Engineering will revise the print in Windchill.7.2If the print is transmitted via electronic means, the sent email will be utilized as acknowledgement of the change communication. The Purchasing Agent transmitting the file will be responsible for retaining proof of electronic files being sent.7.3The vendor must return a confirmation of the transmittal to acknowledge receipt of the updated print. The Purchasing Agent retains the record of transmittal and keeps it until the print is revised again. 7.44All purchase orders (POs) sent to vendors include the part drawing number and revision level of the print. All future parts produced by the vendor for Char-Broil should be at the latest revision level issued to the vendor. Parts being revised by a coordinated running change may continue to be shipped under the prior revision until inventory is depleted.
