Book 6 At the MarketLesson 1. The Analysis of the Teaching ContentsThe topic of this unit is “At the market”. Such a topic is related to our daily life, so it is helpful to improve students learning interests. This lesson is the first part of this unit. In the first lesson, the students will learn the new words about vegetables and food and the new sentence patterns What do we need? We need How much is/are the .? Its/ Theyre yuan a kilo. The Analysis of the StudentsStudents in grade 5 have learned some words about vegetables and food, which will be helpful for them to learn this lesson. They have learned English for more than two years so far. They have some basic English background knowledge, so the teacher should attach importance to the communication with them, providing them the chances of using language. Teaching AimsA. Ability Aimsa. What else can you see at a market? (corn,lettuce, beans and cucumbers)Show the pictures of the vegetables and let students pay attention to the difference between countable nouns and uncountable nouns.1. Listen and read the new words.通过图片呈现新单词,不仅形象而且可以让学生初步感知可数名词和不可数名词的不同。2. Create a situation. T: I am hungry. I want to have some dumplings. Would you like some dumplings? Lets buy some food to make dumplings. What do we need to make dumpling wrappers? (flour) What do we need to make filling? (meat, salt and sugar)3. Taste Take out some salt and sugar. Get students to identify them.4. Let student look at the pictures and distinguish among flour, salt and sugar.1. Learn the new words.2. Taste sugar and salt.3. Tell the difference among flour, salt and sugar.创设情境,让学生在情境中体会和理解重点单词和句型。通过实物教学和图片展现相结合,让学生尝尝盐和糖,学生很容易就能区分flour, salt and sugar。Step 3. Practice 1. Number the pictures. I say the words, students say the numbers and then I say the numbers, students say the words.2. Quickly flip through the word cards and let student say what they see.3. Guess. Text Comprehension(1)Play the tape and let students answer the following questions:Q1: What do Mei Ling and her mother need?Q2: How much is the meat?(2) Play the tape again. True or False.Q1. Mei Ling wants to eat dumplings for dinner.Q2. They need a kilo of meat.Q3. Mom gives Mei Ling five yuan.Q4. The meat is six yuan a kilo.Q5. Mei Ling has enough money. (3) Let students listen and repeat.1. Listen carefully and try to answer.2. Think these Qs by themselves and try to correct without reading books.3. Listen and repeat.1. 第一遍听课文通过两个问题让学生明白对话的大意。2. 第二遍听课文,通过正误判断题让学生理解文章的细节内容。带着问题听读,培养学生获取信息的能力。2. (1) Let students work in pairs to buy food to make their favorite dumplings. Each group has 50 yuan. (2) Make their own shopping lists and make dialogs according to their lists.1. Make their shopping list in groups.2.
